Glad to see your query. If the dimensions are done picking the cad lines, it would be associated to cad. This, cad becomes the host for these dimensions. If you turn off Or remove the host, dimensions will follow it. Hope this clarifies.

Select all the dimensions then control x, then turn off cad and then control v. But there should be some reference for the dimensions. I am not sure if you have created grids, and done the modeling or not. Alternatively, share your revit file. I will check and update you. Thanks

Thank you for your comment. Actually this has nothing to do with discipline i.e architecture or MEP. Linking by shared coordinates works for any revit project file.

Yes!! It is possible.... Actually very sensible query, I appreciate. We can create different types within the same family, having any selected material so that it would be just a matter of switching to desired type from the type selector. I will try to make a video to address your question soon.

@@TechAbyte-q4s Hi That's a great solution, making types for each material, but that would be suitable if the model is fixed size and types are made for different materials. But if the model is parametric and already has 5 types with 5 different sizes of windows, and I want to give the user the ability to select between these 5 different sizes and also give the ability to select between a 9 different materials. Then do you suggest that I would have to make 9x5=45 different types so that each size is available in each material? or is there a better way to do this? Please suggest.

That's correct. The idea of making parametric families has to be a simplified solution rather than making it more complex to understand. Moreover, different material of windows shall have entirely different geometry too. Particularly in terms of their cross sections. That's why different families are formed material wise, however for finish material we can have parameters. Normally in a project same type of windows are preferred with a certain type of finish.... Still, I will share an example solution soon to explain this arrangement of parameters in a proper manner... Hope this should clarify :)

Actually, I am trying to make door handles in Revit family, Now as you know door handles are available in different finishes, (For example chrome finish, Brass finish etc) Is there a way? to set up a family in which there is a fixed set of finishes, (For example 5 different finishes) So that the end-user can select only from those 5 finishes for that handle. Please suggest :)
