Thanks a million! I am considering getting a K1600GTL and am only concerned about its ability to lane split easily. This is my exact commute, from Oceanside to Los Angeles on the 405. I currently ride C650 Sport and F800ST but looking for something more comfortable. It looks pretty easy but how is it when you are forced to a stop (not enough space) - can you balance all that weight? I am 6'2" and pretty stout so would hope it's doable to keep the bike balanced at a stop.

If you don't have a centre stand then you should not lift the front without first lifting the rear, for stability reasons. I get that you don't want an additional bulky stand kicking around, but a basic front stand is only £30.

@thebritonabike

@@thebritonabike yes a plug kit, but in case the bead slips off a tube would be fixable on the trail...
@thebritonabike
@thebritonabike Ай бұрын
@@snapcrack55 If the tire comes off the rim because the rim is bad or the bead is damaged a tube is only a temporary fix as the problem will likely cause the tire to keep coming off under load - If your wheel has recently come into contact with a curb or something else has collided with the side of your bike, it’s possible for your tire bead to be damaged. Although it’s difficult to damage a tire’s bead, it’s not impossible for it to happen when your wheel is deformed or your tire is scratched. It’s also possible for your tire bead to be damaged during installation if your installer didn’t use the proper tools. Whatever the reason, if the bead of a tire is torn, do not try to repair it or fix it on your own. It’s likely that you’ll have to replace the tire entirely. This is because the tire bead is directly tied to your tire maintaining proper air pressure. If there’s an issue with the tire bead, then your tire will leak air and you’ll lose air pressure over time. If you’ve recently hit a big rock off road or a curb hard or are concerned there’s an issue with your tire bead, have it inspected by a professional. They will be able to verify whether or not your bead was torn or just was knocked loose. It may be the case that your tire just needs to be put reseated back into its housing. Doing this on your own is difficult and even dangerous without the proper tools especially when you are out on the road in in the woods off road - . Professionals also use a lubricant to ensure that there isn’t too much stress on the tire during mounting. Remember that proper tire maintenance can also minimize any risk of your tire bead being damaged. Continued safe riding to you !

Thx, nice video, what do you do if you need to true the wheel in the future? is that sealant easy to remove?
@thebritonabike
@thebritonabike Ай бұрын
The sealant covers the inner spoke heads - so before you apply I recommend inspecting, adjusting and tightening the heads. The sealant will lock the heads in place - if the wheel gets damaged or bent in the future spoke adjustment will be the least of your concerns ! Hardcore off road / adventure bikes / dirt bikes with spoked rims might need more future spoke adjustment due to the abuse the rims get off road - but if this mod is going on a street bike I doubt your spokes will ever need adjusting - mine never had. As far a removal - yes you can cut and peel the stuff off - but it is not easy to remove. Remember adjusting the spokes can also be done with the tire on - from the outer threaded nut on the spokes - hence the sealant will hold the spoke head inplace as you adjust. I wish you continued safe riding!

I appreciate the video, however every modified stock exhaust i have heard in real life sounds bad, like a massively leaking or obnoxiously loud exhaust. The Agostini or Mistral have a entirely different character, more bassy and smooth sounding. However, again this is a great video for those hesitant or unable to push the boat out to a pair of Agostinis.

Yeah I agree - mine was VERY loud with the baffles cut out - but once I added the drop in aftermarket ones it really reduced the obnoxiousness ! The whole experiment was just that - can it be done cheaply and easily - YES- does it significantly increase the sound with negatively affecting performance - YES - if it hadn't worked I would have swung for the aftermarket ones - but no need now ! Good video, always nice to see a creative, inexpensive mod like this. I have a '23 V7 Special Edition, and from what I've seen on YT, even the Arrow mufflers are too quiet. So I had the dealer install a set of Agostini full-length reverse cone mufflers with the dB killers removed, and they sound fantastic. 'Course they weren't cheap, but now the bike sounds like a Guzzi should. The good thing about the Ago mufflers is they don't have cats in them, like several other aftermarket mufflers do (i.e. Mistral). The way the OEM mufflers have those tiny exhaust tips is ridiculous, but I imagine we have the Euro5 and previous regulations to thank for that.

At that speed, you could do those wide turns one handed while looking behind you... Riding for 20+ years.. there is no reason to exaggerate the lean like that. Low or High Speed.
@thebritonabike
@thebritonabike 2 ай бұрын
By correcting her body position while cornering she is actually reducing the lean angle of the motorcycle. More lean = more risk. By getting her upper body off the side of the bike more and leaning into the inside the bike will remain more upright and the suspension will work better. By rotating your shoulders more the turn will be smother and you are less likely to run wide. Remember this is beginning level coaching for new riders, and i am building confidence in cornering by teaching correct body position, proper aiming and head turns , etc etc…. the speed of the practice session ie. 15-20mph in 2nd gear allows the student to focus on correct technique at an easily manageable speed. once they have good technique then the cornering speeds increase.
