The man's faith healed him, the touch of Jesus cleansed him according to the Law and then commanded him to go make his sacrifice. Jesus, as the Living Water, by one touch, cleansed the man when there was no physical body of water around. I just love how we can see so much out of just a small amount of text, when you have knowledge of the old you have fulfillment and meaning in the New.

Yes I hope you were rebuked for shaming your members and twisting the word. Pretty sure Jesus said we should give freely and joyfully and are not to be compelled by pastors. I feel bad for my friend that attends your church and who recently had to buy a car when her’s broke down. And it wasn’t because she didn’t give you enough money to buy yourself and the ARC leaders bigger houses and nicer cars. As a MAN, I’d rather give the way scripture ACTUALLY tells us to and I’d rather die than lie to people and make them feel guilty about giving what their heart tells them to give.

Good word! I wanted to share some thoughts God showed me about the shipwreck passage after listening to this sermon. James said God turned the shipwreck into a missionary journey and it got me thinking how this can be a parallel in our own lives. Many events can feel like a shipwreck to our lives, and even to our faith, but God can turn them into amazing moments of ministry and healing to us - and to those around us too! (Another example is Paul and Silas praising in prison; they praised through their pain and bondage, and God not only set them free, but set those around them free, and even ministered to those who had wounded and imprisoned them!) Here are the thoughts I wrote down: Poor leadership decisions is what caused them to experience the storm and be shipwrecked. Paul trusted God anyway. The shipwreck was traumatic, devastating. They lost everything, and even their lives were endangered. But God turned it into something wonderful that glorified him, and also restored to them everything they needed to continue the journey. He gave them community to help take care of them, and to shelter them until the winter was over and the season was right for traveling again. He can do the same for us. He will do the same for us.
