Awesome to find this clip quite by chance. Was great to put a visual to the story put so well by Bren on the last Wet and Dry podcast. If you havent listened to it, check it out! That was a legendary save - how the hell Dave managed that one... but it seems you're a legend!

Well done! That's the kind of rescue that makes all the difference! It just goes to show that having the right equipment, training, experience and keeping your head cool at the same time can save someone's life!

Hey Dave I’m 190lbs 5’11” would you suggest the medium or the large scorch?

What river is this? looks like it would be insane with the water levels as high as they appear they go once in a while.

Hello Dave I am looking for the Scorch. The problem is that as per manufacturer specs with my 186lbs I am at the very upper end of the M and very low end of the L. Looking only at the volume spec I think the M has enough for me. I am an intermediate paddler of class 3+ to 4+ doing mostly low volume runs and a also boulder rivers. But I also want to unlook the speed of the boat. I do not want to overload it or have the chains alwyas engaged. Which size would you recommend ?

Great video! I'm guessing you're in the large scorch. Love the term "beavering". We need some serious beavering out here in Cali to clean up the South Silver. Not sure how we're gonna clean out the giants that fell into the tea cups.

Scorch looks like an amazing boat--Why would you choose the X over a Scorch M? What are you gaining or losing by not going with the M? Where/when would you prefer a Scorch M over an X? Both look like great options, but I wouldn't buy both.
@dfusilli3 жыл бұрын
The X is my dream boat. Why?, because I wanted to be able to skip over everything on the river, plaining on top of the water from one drop into the next. Hopefully never getting slowed or stopped by features hitting me in the chest, and not getting my face wet. This concept is working perfect with the X. I will only use the M for big waterfalls I think. The M surfs better than the X. It will surf more like a Ripper than the X will. That's a plus. I guess if you paddle SUPER tight creeks the M could be better. What you lose is sped and a extremely dry ride with the X. The X has much more overall rocker. Again I was able to create my dream boat with the X so of course I'm going to paddle that pretty much everyday. I hope that helps.
@mountainhobbit19713 жыл бұрын
shoot dang that boat makes you look really small!! ;-) such a beautiful boat. with that huge bow rocker I can see why it wouldn't paddle like you were in a tub.

Banger edit and props on the information to the masses!! Few questions -Can you comment on the deck height of the X vs the M ? (e.g. taller, the same? - curious to know if its got the raised knee position like 9r2/12r). Have you done any overnights yet? Dangerous to assume this would blend some playful nature into an overnight capable steed? FIRED up to get in one once they start landing in these parts - steering via edge seems cllllluuuuuttttccchhh. Appreciative of the content ~ Mahalos!
@dfusilli3 жыл бұрын
Thanks bro., So the knee width feels and measures to be about the same. The knee height is about and 1inch lower on the M. That follows to the back of the cockpit rim. I have 2 seat pads in the X and none in the M. We wanted to keep the seat lower on the X to allow for a wider range of paddlers to be comfortable in it. After all it takes less than a minute to add a seat pad. I have not done an overnighter in the X yet. Thanks for watching.
@jamesshort68563 жыл бұрын
Dude the x is roomy as shit. I'm 6'2 and had the foot plate pretty far towards the seat. Definitely one of the most comfortable boats out there

Is this along the 55 north of banks? Seems like that whole stretch is white water. Is it anything harder than what you showed, say if you put in when the payette is first parallel to the 55 all the way down to banks?
