I went to link this to my friends and make a joke about how it's just 7+ minutes of misogynistic horse jokes of the 30s but then partway through I had to correct my statement to 7+ minutes of misogynistic horse jokes AND one racist horse joke. yeeah...

I had a stroke reading that plus no one cares about the jokes? It was in 1937. That was the entertainment they had times are completely different

As someone born in the early 2000's,but grew up on older cartoons,this one is definitely wild but enjoyable. What a bizarre time period lol. To add to the other comments, Maggie is definitely a favorite.

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 15:3-7 “For I passed on to you as most important what I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the Twelve. Then he appeared to over five hundred brothers and sisters at one time; most of them are still alive, but some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.” 1 Peter 2:24 “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree; so that, having died to sins, we might live for righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.” John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” Acts 2:38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” May the Lord Jesus Christ rescue souls today.

It's really weird to me that they couldn't do this scene any differently (5:38) especially since they literally showed a 'dark horse' before and it did not seem to be a caricature (1:50).

Awe what a cute short about a dopey filly- IS THAT A MINSTREL HORSE??
@Undomaranel3 ай бұрын
Wow, everyone's freaking out over "racism" without recognizing that for the time (1930s) this was legitimate positive representation. They used simple caricature designs to convey a body type, and would you look at that, no one shamed her for ANY of her looks (despite the mares being a gossip fest the rest of the cartoon)! She raced with them, she was in the photo finish, she was an equal... and you're all calling it bad because they drew the "white" horses (despite none of them being white) with thin lips and every vain stereotype but it's only wrong when you draw a black person's features in a not even exaggerated way smh. You're all looking as what progress looked like and are calling it insensitive. If all you choose to see is offense when a Character of Color is shown (or whatever the term changes to in a few years), then your mentality is the reason we stay racist. How about you be grateful for what was, instead of lamenting what it wasn't? That racer was far less offensive than half of what Disney made (and even then Jim Crow or the apes/ monkeys in The Jungle Book [think about it] were still positive representation in a time of minstrel shows and actual enforced segregation).
