Hi Chris, yes it really is a long climb up all those steps. Good job I had my bike that day.

verne common rd, look for a footpath about midway on left adjacent to the old railway, walk round past navy cemetery join a pathway leading up, you have a gate and a fence to contend with possible a troupe of angry marines. its easier to go through the disused quarry and along the mid cliff path, ps take ropes and good boots.

hi buddy BCP subscriber answering, i love stealth camping out at the high battery on Portland, them higher ground big blocks was designed to hold down barrage balloons and used during ww2 to protect Portland. are the tunnels haunted lmao, you bet your arse they are. i saw my mates running when we was in our 20's. whispering echo's of long dead Napoleonic defenders. i also believe that the hospital could be reached from the high battery area via underground tunnels the farm certainly looks promising but its private land and so does the alpaca farm and that is also private land. i have often wondered how the casualties was transferred away from possible siege. climbed about them battlements since i was a kid and my dad took me as a day out. i dont need to tell you to be careful but other peeps it is bloody dangerous to clamour about with a mundane slop one side and a huge drop off the other. please prepare well to shart yourself if you plan a sleep over, YOU WILL.
