I appreciate you breaking down some of these scenes. There are a couple of things that you noticed that didn't necessarily bother me, but it was great seeing this all laid out.

Brother, just came across your video on my recommended page. Great work, keep it up. I enjoyed this game a lot and I platinumed it after about 50 hours. I think this one is much more suitable for this era of gaming. It is flat out fun, tried to play the original but could not really get over the awkward controls.

Has the algorithm finally blessed me? Thanks for giving my video a chance! I personally love the classic tank-control style of old horror games, but I totally understand that it's not for everyone.

The remake is superior overall, but the original was obviously more revolutionary for its time.

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words! These videos do take quite a bit of time and effort (even when I'm rushing to finish in time for Halloween), so it feels great when more people get to see them.

A lot of good points, You`re review of the intro scene is very deep and basically telling us what`s main problem with games in our day and age. They trying to see themselfs (developers, games...) too seriously! There`re no fun or over the top dialogues, top notch cinematography. All games are taking them self`s too seriously, like we all become too concerned about how we look and don`t try to make some clever dialogues anymore that could be cringe. We are playing today only serious games. This is serious game! "Look, the cop is burned! It`s real horror!!" Resident Evil Village tried to do this, but remakes are just too serious to me. I`ve done RE 5 some a few day`s ago with a friend and it was great like the first playtrough because of cool ideas that every level brings you! I hope RE 5 remake will be at least not worse on quality that 4th, but praying that they at least tried to be more creative with a franchise.
@JayReviews7 күн бұрын
Thanks for the detailed response! You might have a good point when it comes to a lot of modern games taking themselves a little too seriously at times. Funnily enough, while I enjoy RE5, I do feel it was a step down from RE4 (maybe a future video idea?) so I do think it has the potential to be made into a good remake. But with Capcom it could really go either way.
@ДмитрийДмитриев-у8е7к7 күн бұрын
@@JayReviews Of course RE4 is better. Re4 is a masterpiece! I`ve finished this game like 10 times or more. It`s just like with movie directors that got a lot of quality movies, but they could not make every movie a world acclaimed masterpiece. Here even in intro scene there a lot of things that You saw and guy in comment section even added to that! This game, as a masterpiece, has a lot of layers in every scene and as a great movies we could discuss that particular scene for hours! +pacing! Pacing in RE5 is great, but in RE4 - it`s just unbeliavble level! Like You said, that You can`t leave this game after first location it`s just hit the right spot. This game is truly genius!

Agree! The director for the remake did a worse job. He could have kept things the same instead of trying to improve it unsuccessfully, making it worse. It's so simple, the winning formula is literally already there for reference and nobody will complain if they kept it the same, they just had the itch to change it.

Directly comparing them like this has illuminated one little detail i hadn't noticed about the remake - at 3:42 you can see leon turning his head to look up the staircase before the camera shifts to a position a ways up the staircase to meet his gaze. Keys in the player to know *HEY! THIS IS A PATH YOU CAN TAKE!!* since they're not a super special secret agent like leon who knows to always be looking for exits and entrances to manage the flow of battle. Whereas you only get a tiny glimpse of the staircase in the original in the corner of a shot as he runs over to the window, very easy to miss.

I hadn't thought about that. I guess it'd also make sense that he's checking the house for any other ganados to make sure it's even safe in there.

At least there's a crosshair for your bow and arrow in this version of the game. There was none in the OG and it made the aiming even shittier.
@JayReviews6 ай бұрын
Oof, did it also do that weird thing where the first-person aiming changes sticks depending on if you're using a bow or not?
@vizuz6 ай бұрын
@@JayReviews I believe it's the same, the bow and arrow have always been shitty. A tip though, you don't have to go first person to use it. You can stay third person and just fire from the hip in the general direction of an enemy and it will auto target, just like the shuriken. It doesn't always work, but a lot of times it's a better option than going first person

That boss on the blimp is a lot easier to beat with the Dragon Sword. Also for the counter attack to work you need to time it just right I think, like a parry.

To be fair, you can have fast travel, but it makes you work for it... The combat does get samey quite fast, admittedly (until a certain very nasty curveball enemy turns up...), but the open world is certainly the heart of the game, and beautifully done. The NPC scheduling and special character animations are intricate beyond the call of duty - Harry Stewart's daily care routine; the little "diced veg" sprites as Nick and Thomas prepare their cooking; and as another KZbinr noted, characters varying their meals and drinks according to time of day. And a lot of this you will only appreciate if you choose to play as the ultimate nosy bugger and peek through every window in town. Which is totally valid and well rewarded. That said, I'm amazed to hear that aiming is good on this version, as in the 360 original combat remained fairly tense if only because that damn targeting laser always wanted to swing too far or too little... The machine pistol was rather a must (especially for the last two bosses, with their sadistically small hitboxes).
