You jump on a static line flapping your arms like an idiot, you will have that kind of malfunction more frequently than if you jump tucked in like you should be

He was a "towed jumper". At airborne school, they warned us about this: "If you become a towed jumper......" We were told to put a hand on our helmet if we were conscious and they'd make a decision as to whether to cut us away or not. Fortunately, I was never a "towed jumper", so I never had to deal with that dreaded situation.

Was this guy deliberately trying to do this? Or did he sneak on the plane and never went to jump school? He even ripped off his reserve.

Just to tie up a technicality if i may? During HUPRA nothing is attached at the body end of the parachutist. Back in the day on the PX 1 Mk 4 the Hupra cable is passed through every single static line buckle to ensure that the primary and targeted static line is encompassed in the system. Checks sre carried out until finally the 'Cable' an intrinsic piece of the aircraft is bolt cropped. On average from start to finish, HUPRA can normally be deployed successfully in around 7 minutes..!

That things badass. The chinese have a similar system that rapid fires 76mm rounds. Thing could be the next sp 88. With apfsds it would shred armored targets and could be used as a spaag as well with air burst munitions.

I'm amazed that they do a static line jump using that technique with the arms out. In US Army jump school we were taught to put our hands on the reserve to keep them from flailing around. That dude was lucky his chute deployed after he was cut from the aircraft.
@Rover24303 ай бұрын
It wasn't "his" parachute that deployed, it was the HUPRA.

This was Afghanistan 2009. My dad was in this L shape formation taking down a HVT and his guys. They came under contact about 500-600 meters before the objective. Only reason why is they started doing hits in the day time for awhile instead of at night like they usually did. You can hear his buddy say “kino” because it was his nickname. His actual name is Jason kinoshida. My dad went through selection, the Q course, follow on training and then did their first deployment with CSOR together and this is that tour. Afghanistan 2009. My dad has a badass story about this dude. Him, my dad and a couple other operators came under contract and ran up to this wall (about 6 feet tall) once they got there they all heard the enemy talking to each other literally right on the other side of this wall.. so “kino” asked my dad and the others, “should I frag em” .. they all nodded and braced. “Kino” took out a frag, pulled the pin and cooked it for about two seconds then lobbed it right on top of these dudes. My dad said the last thing he heard was all them take a frightened deep breath and then it went off. Once they breached the compound and went to the other side of that wall.. right there laid 4 dead taliban fighters! Badass! But eventually Jason “kino”, got out of the army and it was that event that really bothered him. I guess just to see that he directly made 4 dudes look like hamburger really messed with his conscience! But.. my dad said he was a solid operator and more fit than just about everyone! He was physically strong as hell and could run for days I guess! I hope he’s doing okay! As far as I know my dad lost contact with him only a year after he got out in 2011-2012 and then my dad also got out and fully retired in 2017. My dad did 26 years in the army. 18 years infantry and 8 years special forces! 1 peacekeeping tour 5 combat tours and 1 advisory/combat tour. (Bosnia, Afghanistan, Iraq) 👍🏼 I’m 31 years old this year and I still and always will consider my dad my hero!
