….No shit it’s the scariest movie of the year… cuz there’s nothing else in the roaster of scary movies to compare it to in 2024… If you put this movie side by side with Hereditary, then this movie is complete trash.. The only thing that stood out was Nicolas Cages acting which was pretty normal coming from him. 5mins into your video and you’re still not talking about anything relevant to your movie review… fml man.

How can you possible even type the 'M' word? Lee has no arc Longlegs is the story of ... a devil you never see, and this devil likes triangles so much that he orchestrates a series of mass killings over many years so that a triangle pattern forms on a year-agnostic calendar only (aka, a kind of calendar no person actually uses because we use calendars to mark days of the week). There aren't even calendars or seasons in Hell... so this is contrivance upon arbitrary feature of formatting That's it. There's no real resolution. No mystery, no detective work, Satan actually wins nothing - likely sending many actual souls to heaven. Longlegs is barely in the film at all, and just showcases that while Cage is a genius, you cannot adlib horror ... so the director plagiarises his own work and gums the rest of the piece up with wishful homages to better works too, got it

I thought it was great. Had minimal trailer exposure. Movie creeped me out because the first scene was creepy af. Ever since the first scene I felt like the film played off of that scare and kept you on edge until the Polaroid scene which brought the scare back and scared tf out of me haha. I liked the crime thriller throw back and Nicholas cage was unfortunately mesmerizing as long legs

Loves the movie I was so happy there was actually a supernatural element and all the small clues that lead to the buildup, incredible. Longlegs almost killed the movie for me so over the top so goofy, he’s like a cartoon caricature of the joker, fucking awful and so annoying. Still love the movie though

I think most of the audience missed the idea that through the death of longlegs and the events that happen at the end of the movie, he essentially resurrected himself through Harker to complete the unholy trinity. Granted, it took me two watches to piece that together, but I think this movie was too smart for most of its audience and I would argue that it is a masterpiece.

@@finleycrear9496 What's the point of that? Longlegs lived under Ruth's house for years, he could have killed her at any of a thousand moments. As Lee has no arc and we get no sense of what the film or the aftermath means for her... this doesn't seem important

The first two shots were digital zooms. We rented zoom lenses on a $5000 budget for a short film how dare you even consider it to stand among true masterpieces. Nick Cage was great, the tone was great, but it left me with no strong feelings whatsoever. No fear, no resolve, nothing.

Loved it. Any FBI chasing a serial killer pretty much always works for me. The supernatural aspect didn't bother me and I'm not religious at all
@6Churches
@6Churches 8 күн бұрын
They never chase the serial killer ever. Not for one single scene. Lee does no actual detective work at all, not for a single second. She's assigned to the case based on a trait she never chose nor worked for. We're supposed to buy she's a psychic and a Special Agent, but can't even realise that her mother facilitates mass murder and that there was a psychopath living in her basement ... real genius move there They only catch Longlegs because he doesn't resist. There's an absurd one-in-a-hundred-million crap shot that the Special Agent on the case has a family member who is a hoarder and has retained a polaroid of Longlegs even though she's his accomplice and would know that the polaroid was a risky thing to keep. Then Longlegs kills himself in custody, revealing nothing, achieving nothing, explaining nothing. Then the only reason they even catch Ruth at all is because she randomly decides to murder an FBI agent, thereby killing someone radically off-script when all she really needed to do was leave for the girl's party a little earlier

The only issue I had with it was the ending. I loved everything up until then. Really don't like when they remove the mystery and answered the question of whether there is something supernatural afoot
@6Churches
@6Churches 8 күн бұрын
It's fine if there's something supernatural (or actually preternatural is the correct word here) ... as long as it's coherent. There's nothing coherent about the devil's actions, motivations or goals in this film ... he just likes triangles so very, very much ... for .... no end result other than he gets a triangle on a type of calendar that no one would EVER use (a year agnostic calendar with no days of the week that is used over successive years for over a decade .... that's an insane person's type of calendar)

There's another film out this year: Oddity It also features a female psychic who is trying to solve a murder, along with a live-sized doll and a psychopath It has one major flaw (lack of coherent protagonist point-of-view) but it delivers a much more satisfying set up and payoff
