Where does the slot drain, drain to? Septic system or just outside?
@DetachedGarage24 минут бұрын
Both slot drains Y together under the slab and then drain to grade. Check with your municipality. You might need an oil/water separation device. 👍

Interesting video. Was there any steel used with the concrete? Plumbing for bathrooms? Where is being built? Thanks, from California 😊

Thanks so much for the kind words. No rebar in the concrete. 6” and 5000psi will be enough for my needs. We do have a plumbing line running back to the septic tank. No bathroom right now, but could be added. We are in Wisconsin.

Great job, great vision and design to make a very functional space with good capacity. Our home has an existing shop but the design and layout was short sighted back in 1983 and so I’m looking for some different layout examples for when I start removing walls and remodeling it. Thanks for the video. Godspeed.

It is a unique name, and a type of tongue twister, so it was kind of funny hearing you say "Cloplay" or even "Coplay" 9 out of 10 times instead of Clopay. 😂😉 Also, I know they are a sponsor, but please confirm that you will be removing those "safety" stickers on the door panels when you are done fitting out the garage and they got their "sponsors" money's worth out of your videos.
@DetachedGarage8 күн бұрын
I've never said "Clopay" 😂 My Wisconsin accent must have a bit of twang to it. 😎 As for the stickers... Too early to tell what will happen. I DO need to take the shipping stickers off though.

Another HUGE way to save money is to ensure that whichever manufacturer you decide to purchase your windows from, you review their size options and where possible, always design around their standard sizes. It will keeps costs down because they won't be special order, and it also helps ensure that they will have better availability, as standard sizes are usually in stock.

House wrap is completely dead! Figuring out how to overlap the Tyvek in certain places is a nightmare and its very flimpsy and still prone to leaks. What you did with this Polyguard is going to make that envelope so much more air tight and prone from insects. And it will never rot. Throw in some rain screens and it be even better. I plan to do use the Prosoco Cat 5 on my OSB when I get around to replacing my house with Hardie. Great content!

question why no footer drain pipe to keep water from eroding the footer french drains should be code in most areas that are not a desert also why no rebar attaching the footer to the block wall
@DetachedGarage22 күн бұрын
Hey Jimmy, Thanks so much for reaching out. If this was a full basement foundation we would need drain tile, but since it is just a frost wall, we don’t need it. There actually is rebar connecting the footings to the block wall, it was drilled afterwards and mortared in place. Great questions! I hope you are enjoying the build. Let me know if you have any other questions.

In Finland number one, is salaojat, vaterpipes, vesi pitää johtaa perustuksista, vai ettekö ole routa alueella, jos kaivaa perustukset niin aloita salaojaputkista, sitten sadevesiviemäri, muuten routa tekee tuhojaan minus 35 celcius saattaa olla keskitalvella. We do have a 4 foot freeze line in the winter. Backfill is stone and gravel around the foundation to help water move away. We did not need to even have a frost wall foundation, but thought it was best because we were attaching to the house.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/famZiIuieZlnr68 not sure if it's a good idea to tie in CMU block with mortar directly to the wood sheathing of the existing structure, especially being so close to the ground. Doesn't look like there's a capillary break either. From seeing some of your other videos showing the frost wall getting wet this could be an issue long term that you might want to keep an eye on.
@DetachedGarageАй бұрын

I have never seen a garage floor that is at the same elevation as the driveway in my travels. When the slab is poured a piece of 2x lumber is laid flat which creates a 1.5" or so section of floor that is lower where the garage door will seal to prevent this issue. Driveway is then of course that amount lower as well. I'm in Pittsburgh PA but it seems to be common practice everywhere out this way. I've not been to WI though.
@DetachedGarageАй бұрын
That method is typically more common on an asphalt driveway where the base layer is put down and the a small ramp is built up for a smooth transition to the garage slab.
