What about using obsidian, smokey merlot, seaweed and indigo float? You could do obsidian first then pour the other 3 in? Would live to see that.

I Calder! :-) I am enjoying your pouring glazes video but can you please tell me what you said at footage 4:00 after you said “…those Amaco glazes fire at cone five and six,”….. what did you say after that? About low fire glazes? I keep listening to that sentence over and over and can’t figure out what you said.

I agree with your third assessment on the watercolour underglazes, that they might have been too thick. I would do a couple of test tiles with varying amounts of water with the pink and purple. One of the nice things about watercolour is the transparency you can get with a lot of water and less pigment. Think of rose petals that fades from dark pink to light pink as you go from the center of the flower to the edge. Thanks Calder, I think I might get the watercolour set. Cheers from Canada.

The chalk would be great for filling in surfaces drawn with the pencils, and that they would look great with combined use. Those underglaze look great, now i'll be going down a glaze searching rabbit hole for the rest of the day :) Fun video, thank you!

Sorry to bother you, but the sound cut out from 1:20 to 4:45. I know you said you were doing two layers each of the glazes over obsidian, but could you please tell me if you also just did two layers of obsidian or the three that is normally recommended? Thanks from Alberta, Canada. Love your work.

The sound disappeared the entire time you were painting the 1st mug with obsidian. I was sorry to miss it. Then the sound returned until you began to explain how you applied smoky merlot bands. No more narration came through for the rest of the explanation. The second and third mug had music. Your narrative about how you used the bath mat to clean off the mug bottoms was fine. I was sorry to miss your full process described. It was easy to follow what you were doing by watching the video. Thanks for sharing.

Well, I’m going to buck the trend of uniformly positive comments: This seems to me like a lot of material and effort for a single little cup. It wouldn’t even work if you had a handle.

As a former pour painter you may want to try a base first on the surface. The colors moving is what makes those effects. We always did a base on the canvas so it wouldn't stick as bad. And roll over each other.
