Eyes solo into dancing in the street sick. Phil was Philnominal. If you know you know, i was lucky and was there. Gonna miss him. We danced like never before Ive never seen a dance floor jumping so good, New Years Bill Graham 50s dancers throwing girls through the air and through legs so many styles all together throwing down!!

Heard this song on Bluegrass Junction driving down the highway. OMG OMG OMG can't stop listening to this song and the band as a whole. Not sure why this song touches my heart so deeply... The vocalist is amazing and possibly the male version of Allison Krauss.. (spelling)

This song and “Hannah” by them are both absolutely beautiful onion cutters.🥹 This group is top tier, but that’s no surprise having been the Quicksilver of the legendary Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver.

Fwiw- The sound live is unlike anything you have ever heard before so the phone recordings are just different than being there. The reason you hear all the crowd is because the Sphere is essential a large noise canceling arena and the sounds of the crowd you hear on recording is not there when you are there. It’s an utterly amazing sensory experience…so much so I I went back in August after seeing them in May because I didn’t believe what I saw and heard. They were better than the first time even with 3 finger John…Dead Forever!
Ashes & Glass is a song on Ratdog's 2000 release Evening Moods and is a favorite of mine. I also like Corrina (GD played it but it was never on an official release) and Two Djinn from that album, Wolf Bros does Two Djinn real good. Here is the full Evening Moods album playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PLBDFdje7-6wLD2-2pD4eKbiKEHBwufXqc&si=K9arpzNcu8URBilF Here is Further doing Two Djinn, couldn't find a good Wolf Brothers vid. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h52ueomGfrSMjLc

I don't like admitting I have celebrity "idols" or heroes, but Phil was a strong musical presence for me and I'm not even a player. Even my mom would stop and listen during parts when Phil was featuring. Yeah I know it's life blah blah but this really hurts.

IMO, Phil and Cassady are the only bassists who have truly earned the title virtuoso. So long Phil

subtle and bewiful and although the solo never really stopped he never really played one again at the request of the band, it was Bob Weir who never stopped Phils pursuit of the perfect solo while of course Jerry never really even tried and it shows in his not happening years like 77 for example Goooooooo Dead!!

This got me thinking about my favorite Phil solos/base lines. Caused me to remember one of my all time favorites has got to be from Dane County coliseum 2/15/73. Phil’s solo between Dark Star and you guessed it Eyes of the World is something to behold.

Phil was a *huge* reason I own basses and did the jamband covers bar brawl; he simply is the reason I play a six. I will greatly miss this master bassist & jamband genius. Melodic & progressive bassists owe this man a major debt. RIP Maestro. Go write a song with Jimi & Jerry so I have something to boggle at when I join ye.. <bow>
