I used to drive this regularly but now it feels unfamiliar because of the express lanes. I miss the 1990s concrete pavement that used to be between VA 28 and US 50. From there to I-495 it had the original 1960s concrete until 2011. The ride was very loud and bumpy. If you haven't done it already, I-66 inside the beltway + the whitehurst fwy is an interesting drive for both the scenery and road sounds.

@@UncommonElevators I’ve been on I-66 inside the beltway a year and a half ago. I honestly don’t remember anything about that bridge sound-wise. Yeah I heard about the old concrete bit and I’m sure lots of people miss it. It is what it is I guess.
@TrsDp80944 күн бұрын
The I-66 part starts roughly 4 minutes in with bits of I-495 before that. Also decided to let the camera roll in the eastbound direction.

I could have done better with the filming but I got what I wanted. As you’ll notice, there’s a few jams in the other direction. It later got worse. So I only filmed one way and filmed what I didn’t get the other way. Hope you enjoy! Oh yeah forgot to mention, join my discord server and chat with other bridge sound enthusiasts! There should be a link in the description

I did the Baltington Express - in this direction - in the 1990s. As you can see, you can actually get seriously zippy despite two county police departments AND the Maryland State Police! (And they have not added Express Lanes yet.)

I noticed that US30 and PA283 in Lancaster County has unfortunately started grooving the concrete on these routes longitudinal the past few years. The bridges still appear to use transverse grooving on both these routes though. Great video as always!
@TrsDp8094Ай бұрын
Thank you! Yeah it is what it is sadly. There are still positives to having longitudinal grooves but at least it’s not zero grooves.

Why do people insist on camping in the left lane not passing anyone? It’s illegal
@TrsDp8094Ай бұрын
First off, video was three years ago so why do you care? Second, I wasn’t driving so I’m not involved. Third, who enforces it? This ain’t a major highway. I’m not saying I camp in left lane today cause yeah you obviously don’t do that.

You are suppose to. There’s one part that was a bridge sound experiment that’s only audible in the left lane. Nothing bad happened there as I’m sure no one cared.

I assume you mean the bridge in the video? Because the I-76 bridge is technically called the Susquehanna River Bridge. This one is Wrights Ferry. Edit: Just noticed you said westbound. That makes much more sense.
