I'm confused. Because while you're sitting on the seat, when you pull the arm in, the engine dies. How do you resolve that?

I'm having the same issue but don't understand how tightening the bolt makes the mower remain running where as before when you moved the arm the engine would die. Thank you in advance.

Mine has a no crank, no start situation. It was fine last year when I parked itnand removed the battery. No all o can hear when turning the key to start is a click. Just 1 click. Not like a low battery solenoid constant clicking. Maybe the switch on the left side is not making good contacts with the arm in parking brake mode/start mode. I had a few problems getting it to start last year but would jam the.left side arm hard left and it would start.

Does not solve your problem for long it always loosen off after a while. I've been running the z242e for 4 1/2 yrs with my mowing business & this problem has been constant, with constantly tightening that bolt you'll end up cracking the cast alloy housing the bolt runs through. My fix was a 2 hook rubber straps, one end hooked to the handle the other goes to the bottom of the wheel arch faring on both sides. I push both handles out I then hook the left down first as it's the worse side then I do the other side then can get off empty catcher bags or move stuff with out it cutting out. I'm also toying with the idea of changing out the handle torx bolt for a proper head bolt with spring washers.

Maybe you can help me. I'm going to try this. My issue when I pull the arm in to go forward it shuts off?

Thanks for the video, I am having the same issue. And that is what I was going to do also, but my problem is that the bolt turns while I am trying to tighten it and the bolt head is a Allen. And no room to get an Allen wrench on it.

Thanks for the video, I figured it had to be something simple. I didn't have luck with just being able to get on the nut and tighten, I had to cut off I torx bit and use a bit ratchet to get into the small space they left to get on the other end of the bolt.

Spot on! Thank you for posting! I have had the same issue for about three mowing seasons on a Z246. Usually it would sputter and shut off if I didn't hurry to engage the arms after starting it up. Did what you suggested and now it runs like new.

I had the same problem on my z246 left handle. I did tighten the arm retaining nut, but it keeps coming loose. I don't know what else to do at this time.

Any thoughts on how to fix when the mower dies after you bring both arms in to start moving.

My problem with my husky is the axles are both locked up after the customer let it sit for a year. I'm thinking it's the parking brake that's frozen in the transmission so I've been watching videos about parking brake problems. Even though your title says parking brake, it's got nothing about the parking brake in the video. Maybe retitle your video.

You are a life saver. I have the exact same model and the EXACT same problem that drives me crazy. I'll give this a shot as I'm convinced there might be a manufacturing defect in the support arms for the left handle. Thanks again and hope to report back success tomorrow!

Actually, I just watched your video last night. Got up this morning and in less than 5 minutes fixed my Husky 54. I too have been fighting it for the last 2 seasons. God bless you for putting out info that did help several of us. You gained a subscriber. Side note: how come it seems to only the left side that is plaguing us? I can't see under there either, but can hear a spring sounding off as it is expanding, like it is lightly rubbing on something. Could it be supplying tension for both arms but affecting the left more because of the way it is hung? I'm 72 and will have to wait for younger helpers that can get down there to figure it out.
