Nice to see Wilf Peddle is still alive and kicking. We used to buy our eggs from him, all delivered in a hand signwritten Morris minor van. The occasional old boiling hen too. Perfect for making stock .

Question: Are there any last names of Jackman's and Taylor's in these areas. And if you have a link where i could look up some i would love that. Gosh i have to find the time to come to the West Country.!! It's in my head and i'm gonna make it happen.

We had a housekeeper whose surname is Jackman. She lives in Teignmouth, in south Devon. Taylor is a very common name all the UK.

Dear Mr. Trotty, Do you know of any accents where you drop the H and Pick them up. for example. We pronounce House like Ouse and Apple was H'apple. hope this helps.

I found this so interesting. I'm doing some research on my ancestral accent. Marcus Govier from Glastonbury, Somerset was so close to listening to my grandparents and parents when i was a child. I live in Newfoundland , now a part of Canada and rich in English and Irish accents. even the word ya. i can hear my mother say something like "they was yappin about something er anudder." I loves it. i picked up parts of the old accent from the other men that spoke but this one from Glastonbury was mind-blowing.

As a forester (from the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire) I could understand nearly all of what was being said by these blokes as I grew up with people who sounded like this. Sadly you don’t hear much proper Forest being spoken anymore, it’s nearly all but died out unfortunately.
