@@KA-vv7hs it sounds like for whatever reason your FireTV clock is off. The only thing I can think of is connect to your phone’s hotspot so the clocks updates and then try connecting to the hotel WiFi and do these steps (if needed).

You partially saved me. But now i have this issue where i am unable to control the volume. It stays on MAX loudness 😣 i pulled the "television control" aux cable (i didnt see the telephone jack type) but i still have no control over the volume. Everything else works though. Any ideas? Should i just buy a universal remote?

@@BuenoReviews no I wasn't able to control the volume. Just the volume. It controls everything else. I will try again when I go back to the hotel this weekend and update you. Am I able to re run the the remote set up?

@ yes you can! Before you do though, try adjusting the volume with your hotel TV remote and see if that adjusts the volume. If it does, you know that their little control unit box is still commanding the TV. I know you pulled the TV aux cable, but it’ll test to make sure that’s what that cable was. After all that, go to “equipment control” on your fire tv and make sure the TV brand is correct. There’s also volume options in there as well. Make sure the volume is set to the TV and not a soundbar etc.

@ yea - i had no idea it had increased in price so much - i accidentally left a burrito in mine from the airport for like 2 months and i was gonna buy a new one but with them going for so high - i just spent an afternoon cleaning it out and it was good as new.

@@Swabes7 do you see the login screen pop up at all? If you did see the pop up screen and put in your info but still not connected, go back to the hotel wifi under network settings and select “fix” or an option similar. Otherwise, try these instead 192.168.1.1 192.168.0.1 10.0.0.1

Thanks, this was a great fix! I’m at a Marriott and got the ‘application error a clientside exception has occurred’ error message while trying to get through the captive portal. Your suggestion worked to log onto the hotel wifi. My Home Screen still wasn’t showing up so I had to go back to the network, then check the network status of the hotel WiFi profile. Running the fix option, my firestick was able to use the connection established through the silk browser.

If anybody does this, and it’s still not connected after you login via the browser, go back to the connections and do the fix/test connection option. Fixed it for me

Very helpful! I've had mixed success accessing different hotel wifi portals directly with my Fire TV Stick. Sometimes I feel the hotel is intentionally trying to lock out streamers. Great workaround. Thanks.

@@BuenoReviews You should also post a workaround for regional streaming restrictions- Nord VPN app on the Fire TV Stick allows you to choose your apparent location. For example, KZbin TV isn't available outside the US, but I watched it while traveling through Asia a couple of months ago while Google thought I was in Seattle. You can also see Netflix shows that are unavailable or haven't been released in the US yet by using foreign servers. UK sometimes gets Netflix shows before the US. Streaming providers sometimes block known "secret" servers- but Nord will set up an alternate IP address if you report it to them.

i hate hissing in speakers, i have ground noise isolator that i bought from amazon that does not change the sound quality but eliminates annoying buzz.. i have microlab fc530 that i bought in 2013 and they are still kicking! they dont have any hiss or so, i dont know if i should upgrade or no, they have a nice bass midrange, and highs unlike some crappy corsair.. so i am in dilemma, edifier are also very good.

@@11Modern11 I hear you! I actually tried the Edifiers when I was looking at these. They looked nice and sounded fine, but the lack of a sub bummed me out and I didn’t want to go down the route of piecing a system together. Overall, I love the sound of my setup. That said, the hiss definitely sucked 🤣

Yes, I am. I get the join “Hotel” WiFi and it doesn’t work or load anything. I click the back button and go through Silk. The licenses load up fine (not sure if you need internet for that) but once I type in your suggested URL it just goes to say “connect to internet first” sadly. Your method has always worked but I’ve just recently started running into this problem. Could be my firestick needs an update?

I had a red tag from 2013. Loved it until I retired it last year, falling apart in many ways. I'd definitely buy it again if I could. I never thought of using a cobbler but I may do so now you've made me think of that idea.
