Seeing them on this show was the first time I saw them, instantly hooked, bought Spilt Milk after that, just rediscovered it and playing on repeat when I can. Love this song.

The final chorus/Coda is so good on this performance. I was fortunate to see the original lineup play two shows supporting Bellybutton, and one of the things that always differentiated them live was the vocal harmonies.

The general consensus is that the second album is the best. I disagree the first has not one bad track and flows together perfectly whereas the second by the time you get to side two seems to run out of steam. Still that's my opinion.

I knew them through my favourite Japanese indie rock band called unicorn in early 90s, and heard jellyfish was massively influenced by Beatles…heard they used to be very workaholic in the harmonies..understandable…

I think some of this stuff is definitely sequenced .. the vocal of Roger Manning's bit definitely sounds lifted directly from the studio recording .. But this is Jools Holland, so whatever. I think this performance is definitely a mixed bag of sequenced over dubs, some lip synching and real time playing. I don't think I would say this is a definitive live performance although it sounds fantastic. It's a real shame they didn't stick around longer because I'm sure we would've gotten some brilliant live stuff locked down to video/film .. Both albums are absolute classics and some of my favorite music in the world.

@@Fiveash-Art sorry but that’s utter garbage. Artists used to have to have talent. This lot had it in spades. Sequencing😂 Give me strength!🤦🏻♂️

@@Fiveash-Artif you’ve listened to 100 other live recordings of them playing, this performance makes all sense. They were brilliant performers, and perhaps even to the point of detriment where maybe it led to break up. I’d just stop overthinking it for once and accept something awesome.

I love this version. The emphasis on the pedal steel really elevates the song to another level in comparison to the album version. That guy is the unsung hero of Autumn Defense! He also adds incredibly tasteful slide guitar parts to some of their other songs and his playing is really spot-on for that perfect '70s vibe. What a terrific band.
