@@bujinfremont You can order the book for the technician class, and look online for a test date. there like $15 per test, and it's not that hard. That might be something you can add to your belt so you and everyone in the house can stay in communications if you dealing with a security issue. Plus, it can be used for a lot of training fun.

I don't know why non of the fixed blade have the backside sharpened. As far as I know the original ones are double edge. And that gives you more options to cut. I even grind the back of folders that are mainly for fighting not to a real sharp edge but almost there. Just my opinion I would be interested to hear what's your thinking about that since you obviously don't like double edged knifes. I speak just about fighting ones I know why you don't want a double edged EDC knife that is mostly used for boxes and fruits!

Is this a form or something you would actually do in combat?......
@bujinfremont6 ай бұрын
No, not a formal “waza”, it's just my notes on Noguchi Sensei’s taijutsu from my 2017 Japan trip. To answer your 2nd question, in regards combat? In combat, if I have gone “hands on” there has been several breakdowns in my multi layer combat system. Meaning, my rifle jammed, my handgun jammed, I lost or could not deploy my knife/ blade in a timely manner. So in combat a lot of “Sh;t” would have to go wrong before I go “hands on”. Where this would most likely be used is for LE, EP, or self defense. If you notice I am doing what Hatsumi Sensei has been talking about for the last few years, control. I’m not trying to take his life in this scenario, I am controlling him by breaking his body down to be detained, arrested, or disabled to move on to another objective, escape, or so my team can move past onto another threat. Now, can I use parts of this in combat, the answer is “Yes”. When it comes to combat and wearing body armor, I would only use open hands versus a fist. AR500 or ceramic plates would destroy your hands. Open palm(Shako ken) would be preferred. Everything I did in this video can be taken apart and used in combat. Think about the individual parts versus the whole movement.

Maybe, but that was not my point. My point was to simply share how the shuko could be used. I know of at least 4 people who have had their face cut or shot through and they were still alert and able to function before medical care was provided. I always have a "back up of a back up plan", Therefore follow strikes are a must. Everyone has an opinion. "No plan survives first contact with the enemy.". big mistake: you never switch hands with a nagamaki, this is not a speer...
@bujinfremont10 ай бұрын
I agree. My hands just flowed into it. Am I going to apologize for this! No. The fact that I can use any weapon with both hands(ambidextrous), gives me an advantage. I am not trapped by tradition. I remember when Hatsumi Sensei shared the concept of iai, and being able to switch sides or hand to draw with his left hand. Everyone flipped their minds. He shared the advantages of being able to do this, and explained that If the uke/attacker only trains in traditional methods, then he can be killed by an untraditional movement or movements.

@@bujinfremont so why is the tradition to always lead with your right hand anyway? I know they had a reason whether practical or not but it makes so much sense to switch hands like you did
@bujinfremont8 ай бұрын
In terms of using of your left hand, it used to be taboo, but not anymore in terms of Japanese culture. In those days, unbelievable but it was a shame. The left-handed were disgraced, abused, bullied as uneducated vulgar people. They were treated like dropouts socially. So parents were desperately forced their baby to ” fix” them if they are revealed to be left-handed until the 1960'S. Then we gradually recognized it as a personality. Nowadays many young enjoy it and nobody cares. Another part of lore of “No Left hand” from the past is that old idea that right hand is good and the left is bad. This came from the idea of greeting and shaking hands with the right hand, but the person could conceal a weapon and stab you with their left hand.
