I WISH "making gasoline" was this easy and cheap. Gasoline TODAY has 20 or more chemicals ADDED to it for "emissions" and often BAD FOR YOUR ENGINE ethanol for political reasons. Modern gasoline MUST have the naturally occurring BENZENE removed, a costly and DANGEROUS process and other "Bad for the environment" natural chemicals.

How true is the method of taking most (or some) types of plastic, and with a pressure/ heat process, it gets turned back into a type of oil? I have watched a couple of videos, one being from a larger plant in or around Australia, I believe. Thank you

Per MIT / Massachusetts Institute of Technology - 90%+ of Earth’s atmospheric CO2 is from decaying leaves alone, 2% at most from fossil fuels. So if atmospheric CO2 is a crisis -- what’s the plan to stop plants from rotting? Search: "The Mathematics of Leaf Decay" for the MIT News article. So per real science and real scientists, there is no environmental risk to - "Drill baby, drill." Also, please note any chemist that agrees that raising CO2 in a gas mixture of about 80% nitrogen and 20% oxygen from 400 parts per million to even 3000 parts per million, will have any impact.

So at about $70/barrel for light sweet crude, and 20 gallons of gasoline per 42 gallon barrel, that means each gallon raw cost is about $1.70. Less than half the price of a gallon at the pump. Fuel additives, profits from refining, transportation (plus profits), distribution (plus profits), and taxes make up the other $2+ per gallon we end up paying. In some states, the taxes are on the order of $1/gallon.

Compare the cost of 1 gallon of gasoline at the pump to the cost of a 1 liter of bottled water in the grocery store. Oil companies are amazing, where as government taxes are insane.

Notice the end of this video the graphics showed one of the uses of petroleum is pharmaceuticals. Rockefeller used his oil wealth to bribe congress to shut down natural plant based remedies being taught in medical schools. Then consider that most wastewater treatment plants advise people not to dispose of outdated drugs into the sewer system since wastewater treatment facilities cannot extract petroleum byproducts. They don't want rivers polluted. Big pharma got big because Rockefeller corrupted congress to keep plant based naturopathic medical education out of traditional medical schools.

I have wondered why, for the last few decades, Diesel is more expensive that gasoline. It seems like it takes less refining.
@Ares-jx4ep9 күн бұрын
Very simple... taxes. Excise taxes, road use taxes, etc etc. If you want a real idea what diesel actually cost, check the off-road diesel prices at the nearest co-op.
@2whl4re9 күн бұрын
20 years ago, diesel *was* cheaper, less than regular gasoline by 10-20 cents per gallon. Then the big tax got added, about 2005 as I recall, and now it's higher than premium.
@jimgoff11708 күн бұрын
I know that modern diesel fuels are ultra low sulfur, that may require higher grade of crude before refining.

Decades ago we would mind exercise how many people would die per day, month, year and how many would be left if the oil ran out. No bearing grease or fuel were the big ones. Solar, wind or hydro don't plant crops. Most things stop spinning without lubrication. Maybe a few million in remote areas?

Have always wondered is what if the oil refinery wanted to produce more diesel, for example swap the percentage of gasoline and distillates with diesel making up 45% of a barrel of oil and gasoline only 12.5. Could this be done?
@Ares-jx4ep9 күн бұрын
Short answer, percentage of a given product depends on the specific gravity of the starting crude. Light crude will naturally produce a higher percentage of lighter output. By blending the input crude to a target weight you can adjust the output percentage of each product. If you start with a very heavy input you'll get a much higher percentage of tar.

Question : So why does Diesel cost more than gasoline.??? In the past, diesel was always cheaper than gas..!
@aviatr200011 күн бұрын
It costs a lot to remove the sulfur. Our diesel, by law, is “ultra low sulfur”.
@boblatkey716011 күн бұрын
Also it's getting harder and harder to find the sweeter oils with lower sulfur.

Higher road taxes levied on diesel, starting in about 2005-2006. The reasoning being diesel vehicle are harder (heavier) on the roads.
