Prince Frei's welcoming speech on the occasion of the State Visit from Ladonia: Your Majesty, Ladies, Gentlemen, and other esteemed Fellow Humans, It is a great honor and pleasure for me to welcome H.M. Queen Carolyn of Ladonia to Sweden, to the magical West Coast Monarchy of Lorenzburg, and to this royal house that has stood here on this site since the 1650s. For us here at Kronhuset, today marks a solemn occasion. Your Majesty is our first official state visit to the West Coast Monarchy, and we in Lorenzburg greatly value this. It is my hope that this day will strengthen our already good relations and that today we will create many memories to cherish in the future. Our nations may be small, but the visions are all the greater, and it is through meetings like this that we strengthen our bonds of friendship with the world. Your Majesty's presence here provides an opportunity to celebrate the ties that unite our two nations; nations built on a strong foundation where the stones and mortar consist of art, culture, freedom of expression, courage, and community. Both nations are also coastal nations, with all the advantages and disadvantages this entails: our proximity to the sea - our openness to the world - positions us as lighthouses to navigate by. But this exposed position also makes us more sensitive to the whims of the climate - both meteorological fluctuations and the social climate. Rising sea levels threaten our coastlines, and those who wish to destabilize democracy seek to erode our determination to stand up for good and free principles. The future will present challenges for everyone - which makes it particularly important to have good friends in one’s corner. Your Majesty or "Dear Cousin": As you already know, this familiar address is an ancient tradition among us royals. We in Lorenzburg are very pleased and grateful for Ladonia's friendship. Our shared values mean that we are not only natural allies, we have a real kinship, and it is not counted by maternal or paternal lines, no, it is the indomitable spirit and the striving for a better world that make us recognize a kindred spirit in each other - even across great geographical distances. One of Ladonia’s longstanding mottos is "Omnit Vincit Amor" - Love conquers all, and my own motto is "Le printemps retournera" - Spring always returns. These succinct phrases summarize the essence of our nations' philosophy - the hope of spring that comes even after the longest and darkest winter; the belief in love that, despite everything, overcomes evil. In Lorenzburg and Ladonia, we believe in the future, and it is spelled COMMUNITY. As the Prince of the West Coast Monarchy of Lorenzburg, I am particularly proud of our nation's efforts to create a place where fantasy and reality meet, where diplomacy and friendship between peoples are central. Our principality has previously forged friendships with other nations around the world, and it is my hope that your visit here marks the continuation of a long and fruitful relationship between Lorenzburg and Ladonia.
