Hey. I know this is random as hell, but I stumbled upon one of your streams, and it made me curious about your channel. I'm in high school, and I have finals next year. I've always been horrible at math, but I have always had a dream about becoming an astrophysicist in the future. I'd rather keep this short, so what I wanted to ask is: Do you have any tips on actually studying math and not forgetting everything after a month? Or any tips on how not to waste time revising in a not optimal way? Does it simply boil down to loving math and having some natural knack for it?
@dondoesmath2 ай бұрын
The unfortunate thing about math is that you have to use it or lose it. I've forgotten a decent chunk of the math I learned for my degree and it would take a lot of time to learn it again. Ideally, the first time you learn something, try to learn "why" it works, not simply memorize the steps, that helps me recall it much quicker. Other than that, all you really can do is pretend you're learning it again for the first time and go back through your notes and solve some problems (and it'll hopefully go quicker this time).

And good luck with your studies too!

@dondoesmath Thank you for responding! I'll try it out. Also, I hope your channel grows more with time. You have a pretty clear way of explaining things and clearly a passion for what you do. Good luck to you, too! :D

What is the derivative of ijk unit vector with respect to time?
@dondoesmath3 ай бұрын
i, j, and k are normally treated as constants when taking the derivative, so they would become 0 unless there is the variable for time multiplying them. For example, t*i would become just i.
@TA168883 ай бұрын
@@dondoesmath I think that the derivative of ijk unit vector with respect to time will be zero vector?
@dondoesmath3 ай бұрын
@@TA16888 Yes, if all you have is the unit vector it should be the zero vector since it's not changing with respect to time.
@SkrimpPool3 ай бұрын
If the unit vector is in a non-inertial, rotating reference frame then its time derivative will not be zero. You can read it in chapter 5 of analytical mechanics by Fowles and Cassidy.

Does your each video contain miscellaneous topics?

I do whatever homework problems people ask as long as I can help, so the topic depends on what's being asked (if that's what you mean).

That's the wrong book. Still a good one, the Purcell, but in my opinion Griffiths is so much better. Jackson another very good and famous book, but may to begin is not the best one
@dondoesmath5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the heads up! We considered Griffiths as well but Purcell looked more interesting to me. It does seem to assume a lot of the reader though, so it's been a slow process. This is just for fun, so we're taking it at our own pace anyway and could always switch if we really wanted.

Have you tried it by changing numbers and exponents with the most difficult problem model to prove all the calculation processes are correct, bro? I tried to tinker with it by making a simulation problem with large numbers from 100 to 1000 and x,y,l which represent rather dense numbers (x²yz⁵ghd5² )the results are really frustrating 🤔 with all the possibilities if everything works in my opinion it's just absolute
