I am 31 years old. I have 3 years experience as a medical writer. I have bec in zoology and masters in lifesciences. However I don't like my work. Should I go for a PhD? Go for another masters? How to find a research job at 31?
@omicslogic2 ай бұрын
PhD is ideal if you're passionate about deep research and considering academia or specialized research roles. But it’s a long commitment (4-6 years) and requires dedication. If you want to upskill quickly (1-2 years), a master's degree might be a good fit. It offers new skills but may not open the same research doors as a PhD. While searching for a research job, you can highlight your transferable skills like medical writing, look into certifications, or take on short-term research roles. Networking is important-reach out to mentors, attend conferences, and engage with professionals in your field who can guide you further on this topic.

Hi OmicsLogic, I liked this session. I would love to learn more about the field. And transition into bioinformatics. As there is a lack of comments on this video. I would like to ask few queries if it's alright. Although I know this might not be the right place. 1. Are there companies currently hiring? 2. Are there any projects to help me transition my career into bioinformatics? Or Shall I get a degree instead? Edit: I'm an electronics engineer btw, with some background in probability and stats..

I believe it is bisulfite, not bisulfate, sequencing (someone correct me if I am in error here), but otherwise this is an excellent video.

Why are we interested on exons?
@McKeonLawsАй бұрын
Exons can contain mi/ncRNAs, spliceosomes, or can even be introns during alternative splicing.

@ 8:42, the 3'UTR is not part of an exon. Exons end at the STOP codon. The 3'UTR is after the STOP codon. Where did that graphic come from?
