I was able to order one from PS Direct randomly on Thursday. Hopefully that means something good…

I pre ordered my Pro at Best Buy, and at that time, they had the disk drive available, and i was unaware that they had been hard to get ever since the Pro was announced in summer. I was originally was going to wait to get the disc drive prior to December 3rd when I would open and play the console which is mine and Playstation's birthday well luckily I changed my mind and only 2 day after pre order I added a disc drive thinking they would sell out for the Christmas holiday. In my opinion, there are several things that are impacting disc drive availability. 1. PLAYSTATION 30TH ANNIVERSARY consoles, I would say most to all buyers want a disk drive. 2. PLAYSTATION Pro console release, this started the shortage from the jump. 3. Scalpers 4. Supply chains, as Sony maker there own disk drive many manufacturers stopped which supply and demand on components are down. 5. SONY, did Sony predict the high demand of the Pro and 30TH anniversary consoles sales and demand that customers would want on all 3 new consoles that released with no disc drive?......I would say No. Demand will continue to be high for the remaining year....in my opinion.

Bro, the scalping of the disc drive is insane. I just finally bought one for myself after Christmas. Every store that sells It is immediately out of stock as soon as it's released. Even the sales reps have told me this.😮 How to pay some hundred dollars plus ebay prices, but it is what it is. I wonder if sony is purposely, making it scarce a little as well

Clearly Sony is working with scalpers. They are selling everything PS5 at a loss, so how do you think they are recouping said losses? 👀🤷🏾‍♂️😬. It's only affecting Sony and not Xbox? The scalping situation with PlayStation has honestly been ridiculous. Was finally able to order one of these after having stock alerts on for like a whole month. Totally unacceptable.

We had an identical reaction to that garbage showcase of the Pro. It wasn't until Digital Foundry showed FF7 Rebirth that I got excited. I didn't really have a problem with the disc drive not being included since 90% of my games are digital aside from a handful of PS4 games, but the stand not being included definitely rubbed me the wrong way.

People should cancel their ps5 pro preorder in a protest against sony not releasing the pro 30th in plenty quantity, and state in their cancel reason, they want a pro 30th. Or ditch the company that do not respect their customers time😠. Dont own a ps5, but their fomo stunt made me so frustrated that i decided to not get any.
