Great idea, thank you. During power outage in the winter in Maine, I have used a small firepit inside, puting a dinner plate in the bottom with about 10 tealights on it and placing the screened dome lid over it. Nice little heater for a small room.

I wonder if you can also wire that coil up to produce an electrical current when heated to charge a phone or something
@-Tsquare2023

Thats a good concept. The heating element is resistive heating, basically a wire with elecrtic running through it gets hot. What does work is a thermocuple, also known as a peltier element. It is 2 dissimimilar elements joined together. They are used in small electric coolers. The Seebeck effect is when one side is heated it prouduces electric current. These are a used in wood stoves to power fans.

Good idea if you have a large amount of tea candles. I personally would line the burner bowl with aluminum foil before setting the tea lights in. It would make clean up easier and keep spilled paraffin off the bowls.

I do have about 2000 tea light hours. Buddy Burners in veg can size for much needed heavy flame to go in a deep huge roasting pan and a over rack can sit over it. I did buy two sets of small camping pots and pans. I want to get a set of lightweight stainless steel set. I also have multiple alcohol burners to use in the big roasting pan. I also want to try olive oil lamp/ candles as the guy that made the diy forever wick candle said the olive oil burns hotter, it why he/ you needed to use copper for the olive oil candles.

I have found that some of the Chinese Croc Cookers have Ceramic Bowels ( for Lack of better terminknowlogy ) in them, leaving " an AIR Space " between " The Heating Element " and " the Ceramic [ food ] Vessel " ! If any electric Cookware has this; " Then the Air space " Acts " as an " Insolation " ! " This Why " the Newer Croc Cookers " Take longer " / My guess is that " the Older Ones heated " Up In 5 to 10 minutes "/ and the " New-er Ones " could to my [ off the top ] Estimate " Take 3 or 4 Times " Longer to Cook " the Same Dish, " / If That !

@ 1:53 when a " flame Tip " is " at " or " just below a metal surface " ( the clearance of a Flat U.S. Dime / about 2 or 3 mm ) that is when the Flame is most effective ! If a Flame moves across the bottom surface of a metal Pot, Pan or Kettle most of the heat of the flame Will Escape from under the bottom surface and will escape up-along the sides of the Cooking Vessel ! Thus the Flame & It's Heat is wasted !

Yes the radio is running the EGZUMER v0.22 firmware, But! Since then I have changed the firmware yet again and you might be interested in the new firmware even more, the new firmware is a fork of the EGZUMER which is and improved firmware (EGZUMER with added features and modifications) from f4hwn v2.8.1 look at this firmware I recommend it its EGZUMER on steroids. I pick up CB and AIR BANDS very well!

I like the innovative thinking, but it you have a gas stove with a pilot light, and the gas has been cut off, using candles there is a bit dangerous, because the gas pressure might return without notice. In that scenario, it would be better to place the candles on some other flat fireproof surface, and hopefully the grate will have enough clearance to sit above the candles.

While it may be a good idea in a pinch, it might damage the circuitry in the coils. I don't know. I do like the idea. Maybe substituting a flat metal roaster rack instead might be a better idea. That's up to you as to what you're comfortable with. The tealights are very close together. There is danger from the emission vapors igniting. Make sure you have a fire extinguisher handy! Perhaps using fewer candles or a larger burner pan. It might go faster if you use a lid on the pot to retain more heat. Nice video.

@@Katesharpandvoice When Helene came through we lost electric for three days. I didn't use candles, but I used canned heat. It is a can of liquid or waxy flammable substance with a wick, and you just light it the same. It was my first time, and I didn't have a rack to support a pan. The can was too high for the stove burner hole. I used four cans of evaporated milk as the platform with the canned heat in the center. It worked great. No fumes, no odor. It cooks faster than candles, as it's a blue flame. Just sharing. I should have tried candles also, just for the experience, but maybe next time.
