This long time myth about a so called clash is similarly to ideas like 'western' 'judeo-christian' values etc is just another tool to uphold a certain narrative that facilitates oppressing others and exploiting them. It's a tale as old as time itself. As soon as the first cities arose and there was a need for more resources or territorial expansion or political ambitions in the region , far or near, it was just all too convenient to say anyone living outside the cities not sharing the city dweller lifestyle is 'barbaric' i.e is at odds with the 'civil' and therefore needs to be put in line.

Chomsky was, and and still is, a pathetic cult-leading narcissist who thinks his thoughts are fact. His trivialisation 'the big bad guy is Islam' had some credibility 20 years ago, but we all know his view-point has caused mass rape, murder, drug crime, and sedition across the EU. Just this weekend Germans had to watch Muslims march for a Caliphate in Germany. The AfD is right - the UK (Corbyn, Abbot, Blair and Brown) and hundred of EU parliamentarians are evil and should be prosecuted for treason. We are 5 years from civil war.

Alex Jones and Noam Chomsky agreed there is a propaganda system that keeps people from knowing the truth but that people should in fact be informed. Fast forward to now. Alex Jones is banned. Noam Chomsky though somewhat marginalized is not banned, but hardly anyone cares anymore about what he says. Alex Jones comes out looking better now.

Can you believe it? How is the same guy who knowingly made money off dead kids' graves and exploited the suffering of Sandy Hook parents is actually coming out of it looking better?! Because if this man the American political scene got thrown back decades, thanks to all the conspiracy crap he's been peddling. Alex Jones is a prime example of what happens when you let these platforms go wild without any regulation. Look at how messed up gun violence has become, not to mention the rise of QAnon and the chaos of January 6th. Seriously, it's not hard to wrap your head around this stuff!

I wish old Alex and Chomsky had gotten along throughout the entire conversation. So much common ground, but I think 30 minutes in or so Alex turns on Noam and accuses him of being part of the New World Order and so forth. Back then I think Alex was more of a libertarian of the right, and of course Noam is one of the left. So even with differences, they have a lot in common. But now Alex is more of a right-wing populist, since the rise of Trump. Which would still mean they have a fair bit of common ground, but I think Alex would be even less interested in exploring said common ground in 2023 than he was back when this interview took place. When did this interview take place? I see the upload was May 2007.

There's no way food produced in America is cheaper than food produced in Mexico, even with those subsidies. Anyone who's gone to a third world country knows how cheap the local grub is, and anyone who's gone vacationing on an island knows how expensive imported food is. So no, there's no way US food imports are destroying local agribusiness.

Lmao it’s hilarious how Alex Jones spent the entire interview pretty much exactly agreeing with everything Chomsky says, and praises his research and his books, specifically about how the government has to distract us with culture war bs, and then the one time he disagrees with him it’s about a culture war issue, and that one disagreement alone is enough to get Alex to entirely discredit him as a globalist shill when he just spent like an hour agreeing with him…

Nunchomsky fails to realize that the question themselves elicit the ideas. Yes if you ask people who do you think really controls the government and give them the option of the few or ask them do you really think the election matters? Those questions are basically "leading the witness." The problem is that they didn't even realize that's what they believed until someone asked them those questions.

If only Jones was a bit more intelligent and was willing to agree to disagree with Noam Chomsky. It's such a great conversation between two great minds. And then he goes insane because Noam Chomsky has different economic views than him.

It's insane how prophetic Jones was. You have to keep in mind that this was before the PC culture came to rise. However Jones was terrible in that he lowered the morale of everyone who questioned the mainstream narrative by always freaking out about the problems and never dedicating any time to featuring the solutions. He could have spent one day per week just having people call in to talk about the solutions they were implementing. Hell he could have given away $1,000 each month to the person who had done the most to wake people up that month. Jones failed to wake people up AND inspire them to take action. In that sense he failed miserably. He should have bounced his show about some of the good things were happening in the world so that his listeners didn't become depressed, as was often the case.

@@sebasitn because I have been going over Chomsky lectures & comparing what he said ten years again to what he’s saying today. All the evidence was there. His fanaticism for environmental policies has morphed into total government control. It’s a striking juxtaposition. Although Alex was abrupt & standoffish at the end I think he made some really good points. Although I think he was a little confused about the actual statistic, that was an increase in violent crime in GBR after the handgun ban in 1988

Yeah, that's what I noticed. By this year, the US has started to get in odds with Saudi Arabia, and will certainly get in odds with Indonesia as the country's economy grows. Besides Islam itself is based on the idea of ummah which does provide factual basis and most likely will end in the result Huntington exposes.

Huntington’s thesis contemplated individual non-Western nation states allying themselves with the West for monetary or security based reasons. The frequent nitpicking of Huntington’s argument with outlier examples is intellectually disingenuous. Plus there’s no guarantee that those isolated alliances between Islamic and Western nations will endure-the oil trade will only last so long.

Chomsky really misrepresents Huntington's argument here. Ethnic divisions are different from the civilization ones Huntington thinks to define the world. He argues that what happened in the former Yugoslavia was a result of a clash between the Muslim and more orthodox groups in that region. In some cases, according to Huntington, ethnic conflict will decrease as ethnic groups in the same civilisation see each other as allies.

I find the "right wing nut" phenomenon to be quite tragic. When legitimate public educators like Noam Chomsky get censored and censured, we lose a critical source of information. In the absence of quality information, people will eat up anything they're given. Legitimate anti-establishment anger leads people to charletans like Trump or Jones. When being suspicious of power is relegated to the margins, (nuts, exotic academia, etc.) the people lose. The elites and their corporatocracy are free to continue unchallenged and unexposed. Alex Jones and Noam Chomsky should be fighting back to back and spreading this very important reality. Instead Alex behaves like a barbarian thus making the entire issue less credible. Very sad and also quite irresponsible.

anyone who rejects the theory of Clash of Civilizations - may you enjoy watching your native country and culture (presumably western, because most other civilizations tend to display some form of common sense) being devoured by the cultural enrichment of an invading incompatible culture. Keep spitting on your ancestors' legacy, you are hip like that.
