Is MOE a learning organization? Or is it showing signs of organizational learning disability? Case in point: A typical year-end review where all teachers led by department heads were made to brain-storm and come up with ideas big and small. The P declared that the VP will compile all materials. By the next yearly review, another session where the previous year's materials were conveniently put away. And it goes on systemically, just another year.

Too much talking makes an ideologue. What is the first step you want most teachers, if not all, to take? Go along with school heads on decided agenda pragmatically, and then keep quiet during yearly reviews? Tweak the school structures gradually based on unmentioned policy assumptions that it will work somehow, and need not compile unexpected input from ground operation for the purpose of tuning policy decisions as much as possible? In how many steps are going towards whatever we are going to? In one big step, two steps or 10 steps over how many years? What talking you?

Thrusting this issue into the spotlight is certainly a good thing. But this is only the tip of the iceberg. The real issue is that many teachers are overburdened and this remains largely unaddressed up to this day in mostly primary and secondary schools.

Geraldine, come to world of academia. Then, you be be underpaid and you will face real burnout in the competition for scarce resources. On the side note: Success is a socially constructed term. So what defines success depends on the individual person context subjected to his/her environments.

Oh, Minister Chan’s on to something! Teachers embracing AI? That’s like teachers getting a super-powered sidekick to help them fight the daily battles in the classroom. Here’s how AI can swoop in and save the day: 1. **Grading papers**: Imagine AI swooping in with a red pen in one hand (okay, metaphorically) and a calculator in the other. It can automatically grade multiple-choice questions, suggest improvements for essays, and give teachers a break from the avalanche of assignments. No more "death by grading" weekends! 2. **Personalized learning**: AI can track how each student is doing, analyzing who’s a math whiz and who’s, well, daydreaming about recess. With this info, it can help create personalized lesson plans, so each student gets the attention they need. It’s like having a personal tutor, but one who never sleeps or needs coffee. 3. **Homework help**: Gone are the days when students call teachers at ungodly hours because they don’t know how to solve a tricky problem. AI-powered platforms can step in, offering on-demand assistance. Teachers can enjoy their dinner in peace, while students get instant help from AI tutors. 4. **Classroom management**: AI can keep track of attendance, monitor classroom behavior, and maybe even predict when little Timmy is about to launch a paper airplane. It helps teachers focus more on teaching and less on being the classroom sheriff. 5. **Content creation**: Need new quizzes, lesson plans, or fun activities? AI can help whip those up faster than you can say “pop quiz.” It can provide suggestions and resources, making sure teachers never run out of creative ideas to keep students engaged. 6. **Feedback**: AI can analyze student performance data and give teachers insights into what’s working and what’s not. It’s like having a teaching assistant with an endless supply of charts and graphs to fine-tune lessons and strategies. In short, AI is like the Robin to a teacher's Batman. It helps with the nitty-gritty tasks, gives personalized support to students, and frees up teachers to do what they do best: inspire, educate, and shape the future.

Absolutely! Let’s break down how AI can be used in each area and how teachers can actually incorporate it into their work. Here’s the superhero guide to each of these AI-powered features: ### 1. **Grading Papers** **How it helps**: AI can be a time-saver when it comes to grading, especially for objective questions (like multiple choice or fill-in-the-blank). It can also provide feedback for essays, checking grammar, structure, and even suggesting improvements. **How to do it**: - **Tools**: Platforms like **Gradescope** or **Turnitin** use AI to help with grading and feedback. - **Steps**: Teachers can upload assignments, and the AI will take care of checking answers against a set key for objective questions. For essays, AI tools like Grammarly or Turnitin can scan for grammar errors, provide plagiarism checks, and offer suggestions on structure. - **Bonus**: Teachers can set up auto-grading for quizzes in learning management systems (LMS) like Google Classroom, Canvas, or Moodle. ### 2. **Personalized Learning** **How it helps**: AI can analyze how individual students perform on tests and assignments, identifying strengths and weaknesses. It helps tailor lessons and resources to each student’s needs, giving advanced materials to fast learners and extra support to those struggling. **How to do it**: - **Tools**: AI-powered platforms like **Knewton**, **DreamBox**, or **Smart Sparrow** offer personalized learning pathways. - **Steps**: Teachers input learning objectives and standards into the system, then assign materials or activities. AI tracks student progress and adjusts the difficulty or suggests different learning resources based on the student’s performance. - **Bonus**: Teachers can get insights into where each student is excelling or falling behind, making it easier to address issues early on. ### 3. **Homework Help** **How it helps**: AI-powered tutors and platforms can give students 24/7 support, so they don’t have to rely on teachers (or parents) to explain tough concepts after school hours. **How to do it**: - **Tools**: Apps like **Socratic**, **Photomath**, and **Khan Academy** use AI to help students solve problems and learn concepts step-by-step. - **Steps**: Teachers can recommend these tools to students and even assign AI-assisted homework where students use apps like Socratic to work through problems. Teachers can also integrate AI-based homework systems into their class LMS. - **Bonus**: Some AI tools, like **Quizlet**, let students practice with flashcards and adaptive quizzes that adjust based on their performance. ### 4. **Classroom Management** **How it helps**: AI tools can help manage the classroom, taking care of repetitive tasks like attendance tracking, monitoring behavior, and even predicting which students need more attention. **How to do it**: - **Tools**: AI-based systems like **ClassDojo**, **Hero**, or **GoGuardian** can help with attendance, behavior tracking, and keeping an eye on classroom engagement. - **Steps**: Teachers can set up ClassDojo to track attendance, reward positive behavior, and communicate with parents. For online classrooms, GoGuardian can monitor students’ activities, ensuring they stay on task. - **Bonus**: These tools can provide real-time data to teachers on who’s actively participating and who might be falling off the radar. ### 5. **Content Creation** **How it helps**: AI can help teachers generate quizzes, tests, and lesson plans quickly. Instead of manually creating these resources, AI can suggest questions, activities, or even entire lesson sequences based on the subject matter and student progress. **How to do it**: - **Tools**: Tools like **Quillionz**, **EdPuzzle**, and **Kahoot** allow teachers to generate questions and interactive content. - **Steps**: Teachers input key topics, and AI can generate quizzes or create multimedia lesson plans. For instance, Quillionz can generate questions from reading material, while Kahoot lets teachers create engaging quizzes in minutes. - **Bonus**: Tools like **Quizizz** offer AI-generated quizzes with varying difficulty levels, which can be tailored for different student groups. ### 6. **Feedback** **How it helps**: AI can analyze data on how well students are doing on assignments, tests, and projects. It gives teachers insights into trends-like which areas students are struggling with-and suggests strategies for improvement. **How to do it**: - **Tools**: Platforms like **ScribeSense**, **NoRedInk**, or **Edulastic** provide AI-driven feedback based on performance. - **Steps**: Teachers input data from student assessments, and the AI will generate feedback and visualizations on student progress. It can highlight common mistakes and suggest resources for students to improve. - **Bonus**: Many LMS platforms, like Google Classroom or Edmodo, have built-in AI-driven analytics to help teachers track performance in real time. ### Getting Started If you're a teacher looking to embrace AI, here's how you can begin: 1. **Explore Free Tools**: Start small by using free AI-powered tools like **Google Classroom**, **Kahoot**, or **Quizlet**. 2. **Integrate Gradually**: Don’t feel like you have to do everything at once. Start by using AI for simple tasks like grading or creating quizzes, and build from there. 3. **Professional Development**: Many AI tools offer online tutorials, webinars, or even certification courses for teachers to get comfortable with the technology. 4. **Collaborate**: If you’re not sure where to start, collaborate with tech-savvy colleagues or your school’s IT team to figure out which AI tools can benefit your classroom the most. With AI helping out, teachers get more time to focus on what really matters-connecting with their students, sparking creativity, and fostering a love of learning! 30:50

Quality. Please. Doing away with gifted programmes. Yet focus on quality of teachers? Right, calibre of polytechnics, calibre of degree, calibre of technical instututes. That's inequality. Have you had college dropouts or ITE graduates earn higher benchmark? Higher than degree? So, all things are important. Quality are more important. *scoff . Any opposition, let's chat and respond me. Please SG leaders and global leaders.

If not most, lots of teachers never reply MOE and school based emails. Even some dont reply in communication app that they had given to parents. When you call the school up after weeks of no responding, the school said they had went home even its just 30 minutes after school students bell and will call back next day which always ended the third day. So MOE conclusion now is stop parents to communicate with teachers. Should parents take leave and queue up to meet the principals to talk instead? It will be long queue. Will the principal call up his team of gangs of counselor, teacher, admin,..... 4 vs 1, to talk down to 1 parent? He said why meet the parent in school? Does this mean MOE is abandoning parents teacher meeting anymore? This also means no longer parent and teacher collaboration or partnership.
