As i found out later in my working life, it's much better if you use acetylene. Oh, and if you give it a squirt of oxygen and then acetylene you can get the overturned can to rise many feet up into the air

I remember a certain teacher doing this at my high school. He produced hydrogen in beehive jars. Then with the pupils all called to sit closer to his desk he overturned each one and ignited the gas. At a 2 to 1 ratio with oxygen, hydrogen is twice as explosive as TNT in a free form gas. Hydrogen also compresses 900 times it's original size before it turns into a liquid. So, 2 parts liquid hydrogen, to 1 part liquid oxygen can be around 1800 times more explosive than TNT. :)
