on one hand, I’m happy they’re moving away from WLFGRL as an influence and spacing themselves away from breakcore. On the other hand, to see The Ugly Art and U-void just get left in the dust in terms of identity and themes for this? Is just plain sad. I hope the rest of MG ultra is nothing like this.

people saying this "isn't mg" or "it sucks" because it doesn't sound like their breakcore works. oh boo hoo. artists are allowed to experiment and change their style and they don't exist to please what the fans want. maybe because i've always been more interested in their "hardcore" side of digital hardcore, but i think this is a neat song. sure it's not like their more popular tracks but i enjoy it for what it is.

idk, why people say this aint MG. without that kinda generic guitar part, yeah, it sounds literally like a NW OST with vocals, or a bit harder track from ReFantasies.

Hot (?) take, but I hate this. Especially when it’s like the normal growly vocal over a guitar beat. The beat is very basic, and the mixing makes Matt sound weird. I don’t dislike the new style. Black glass and until I die are very good. I just dislike this song in particular. 2/10 song. Looking forward to the rest of the album tho

I know I'll get burned for saying this but I'm kinda saddened by the way this album is turning out to be. The songs aren't horrible, but they don't really feel like machine girl songs. Seems like the artist that made the neon white soundtrack, reporpoised, gemini, etc. has just fallen off the face of the earth and now we have someone else claiming to be MG. No doubt this style will appeal to a wider audience, and if people go back and listen to the older stuff and enjoy it because of this new stuff, that's great. But it's just a little sad because the unique identity that MG has made over the years is (probably) going to be totally lost on this album. I can't say how many artists I love have been inspired by that old MG sound, but none of them, no matter how close they copy the style, can replicate just how tight and tasteful MG has been on their best releases. Is what it is though, if people like it, cool.

Real tbh, though I do have some hope for the album because Until I die was alright and the Super Freq ep before it was fantastic, not to mention some recordings of the demos of MG ultra that were played live sounded really nice. Still I hope MG at least keeps a bit of their experimental and loud sound in their future music, it really was the type of stuff that made me love the band in the first place. And if they don’t, then I guess it’s cool. After all it’s their band not mine

@@Aestheticsareweird I pray that this style change is of their own volition and not to appeal to the “Tiktok crowd” because as someone who used to have the app and haven’t used it in like 2 years now I can confidently say that looking back at it now (at least from how I personally experienced it), the version of me that used tiktok was the worst version by far. Fucking cancersite dudeee. They’ve said personally in a previous interview though that they were planning to change their artistic message in some way though anyways so yeah

Interesting how it's a lot more like a conventional rock song than the strange electronic music they usually make. I don't like this one as much as Until I Die, but it does make me wonder what the other songs on the album are gonna be like.

i love machine girl (obviously) but is anyone else not loving this new sound :( it sounds too “clean” and too easy to listen. i miss the old machine girl edge.
