Fanatically put! I adore Takemichi's character so much and how he's such a departure from the stereotypically strong shoien protagonist. He's strong mentally and that by itself is such a feat. I love Takemichi and have so much more praise for this character. He's a dude you want to cheer for. 😊

Imo Ippo's idea of strength is becoming mentally and physically strong. He wanted to be like his dad. But his dad's strength was his ability to sacrifice himself for others on that boat and him going to do hard work everyday to provide for his family. Making the choice that you might die to save someone and accepting that, is immeasurable. Ippo is risking his life in the ring to try to be the best, his dad risked his life for his friends and family. He is the every day family man who works hard. I think that's the meaning. The every day man who goes to work and works hard, who sacrifices himself for his family and friends, is a hero. You don't need to be the best or a champion to be strong. Anybody can be strong.

@@BGtalksAnime ill explain it further cuz i didnt do it justice your points where like you didnt even watch the anime you missed the point of strength in ippo, ippo dosent see himself as strong he is motivated by a promise of the match with miyata but you speak about skills and being the best, while the anime is about fighting spirit no matter how strong or weak someone was they weren’t pulled by there strength in the weakest times it was there spirit to continue fighting and ippo will never find his strength because in the end it will be a mental wound trying to get fixed by physical attributes
@BGtalksAnime5 ай бұрын
Yes that’s the point. Ippo starts boxing after admiring takamuras strength. Along the way calling so many people strong that he’s stronger than. But “strength” is subjective. Just because you can beat a person in a fight doesn’t mean you’re strong. So in the video I go on to explain how I view “strength” because it’s subjective
@acordian97075 ай бұрын
@@BGtalksAnime yes it is subjective to you, but it’s clearly the definition of strength is your fighting spirit ill site a example from the manga the imai vs itagaki fight itagki decided to stand hes ground and fight and he got hit and alllmost lost but he stayed standing due to his fighting spirit, and strength that ippo strives for is mental not physical he is allready strong he just dosent believe it
@BGtalksAnime5 ай бұрын
@acordian9707 subjective means it’s opinionated. So each character in the show as well each person who watches the show will draw a different opinion from it. While you might see it as fighting spirit another person might interpret as something as simple as having the courage to try new things or maybe even just confront their fears

I used to think that no matter how hard I worked I could never be better than those who were gifted but then I realized I was gifted too in my own way. You may not always have the stereotypical gift but I really believe that if stick with what you are good at and find your own style you can excel in anything

What I loved about Ippo's journey is he always respected his opponents save a few jackasses, and those opponents did deserve that respect for the most part. The way every opponent's strength arose from so many different reasons (Volg genuinely being passionate about boxing and wanting to accomplish something after his mother had sacrificed herself to let him box, Ippo and now we know Martinez wanting to learn what Strength even is, etc.) always motivated me because it showed there isn't just one way to be strong, or one good reason. There is an infinite amount of ways and reasons to become strong, and that much shows anyone can, without having to hurt others, without having to disrespect them. It can simply be a competition to test your own power against another respectful person.

One of my favorite parts about Ippo was the detailed backstories of the opponents. At times you were almost rooting for the opposition because how sad their story was
