Used to ride my bike down Mansfield hill when a teenager back in the 80s. No helmet and overtaking buses. Don’t know how I survived.

Thank you for driving me home. You have covered my whole life here. I am born and bred North Finchley, you drove past the road I grew up on, where I went to school, my local shops and post office.... who are you?

I'm surprised how familiar it looks and I lived in Strone Road until 1973. The Army and Navy where I bought my first sheepskin coat is still there! Thanks for the video. I remembered doing track biking in Little Ilford Park.

Born there in 1955 and raised there until 1972. The infrastructure hasn't changed a bit. I think I could still find my way round with my eyes shut🙂 I live far from there now so many thanks for the memories.

Thanks for posting this video. My grandmother lived here for years and my dad and I would visit her back in the '70s getting the bus to W Norwood bus station from East Croydon. Later in the 80s I would get the train and walk up to her flat in Thurlby Road, its so hilly and quite a walk! I did remember the station, church and cemetery. Where the Co-Op is now I think used to be MacFisheries.

Thanks for taking me back to Restons Crecent where I was born in Jan 1940 (house now dismantled). I can remember seeing a combine harvester taking in the crop in the field behind where the shopping parade now is (9 mins in). The LCC bought the area from Crown Estates c.1950 to build the estate. Before that, bluebell woods.

I lived in Abbey wood, and my secondary school was in Charlton lower road. So i remember most of this. Especially going up Herbert road and into Eglington hill. I worked at a Butchers in Herbert road, Nan lived in Nithdale road. Sister worked at Bakers in Lakedale road. Born in 1953, i left the area around 1974 and moved to Essex. It was great to see the old stomping ground, thankyou so much.

Red telephone box? Get in!!! This was my old stomping ground in the 50's 60's Lived in Abbey Wood but used to come here to travel on the Ferry which in those days had a lovely glass partition with wood frame like a window that you could look through and see the massive brass oiled crank shaft moving up and down...glorious as a kid, we'd go backwards and forwards totally free, oh dear they really were the days, used to come here also for the Woolwich baths which were the best around and were always hot with hot showers too, and come out with me mates, eyes streaming from the chlorine ha ha. Always get such a good feeling watching these and it puts me back in touch with my roots which ultimately involved the beautiful Thames. Love it mate, thanks so much for this.

I remember travelling to work by tram to work in Woolwich in the mid 1940's and what a place Woolwich was in those! We used to work a five and half day week and Powis Street on Saturdays used to be full of people overflowing into the road with Beresford Square a live and busy activity with its market stalls. I recall the butchers stall on the corner which had auctions of meat on Saturday evenings and the crowds were dense! Woolwich during this time due to it's productivity in the Royal Arsenal must have been one of the wealthiest Boroughs in London. But when Woolwich Borough Council was dissolved into Greenwich Borough Council, Woolwich lost out for sure. It was Greenwich that was trumpeted not Woolwich!

My Grandparents, the Pesters, lived at 28 Stansted road, Forest Hill. SE 23 How i remember this address is a miracle as last time i visited was in February 1956, i was 9, and i came to Africa with my parents. Like it was yesterday, they had a grocers not far from their house. My great delight was to spend time with them, they had a television, an electric blanket. Oh sweet memories. Thanks for the chance to share.

You drove past my school (Oxford Gardens Primary), passed by the hospice where my Dad died (Princess Louise), crossed over the street where my Mum lived (St Quintin Avenue), crossed the road where I was brought up (St Marks Road), past the flats where we moved to just after was born (Ruth House) , crossed the road where I was repeatedly patched up in hospital as a kid (St Charles Square), past the school my Mum went to (Barlby Road), skirted past the East side of the cemetery both my parents were cremated (Kensal Green) and all that before you crossed over the Harrow Road! When people say "where are you from" this is where.

I live in Thamesmead (crossway)...and I've just realised, after watching this, just how much of a visual difference it makes when the street-trees have foliage... without it the 'MEAD can look even more 'dank+depressive'! (like in winter), ain't complaining! there's worse places to live (up North mostly),good upload👍
