The acoustics of that room didn't do the instrument any justice at all.

How did you remove the Bout besides taking the screw out? I removed the screw but the bout seems to be held in place with a small white/silver pin in the lower right hand corner. Thanks in advance, cheers!

How did you remove the Body Reference Bout? I unscrewed the screw and took it off but the piece did not come off. I noticed there is a small white/silver that seems to be holding it in place. Do I need something like a flat screwdriver to wedge it out, thanks.

So excited to find this video in May 2024. As the new owner of NS Design CR5 #80, I’m eager to learn more about Ned and these artists. I must say the CR5 is an amazing instrument. My band was blown away when hearing it at rehearsal.

Happy to know some of the stories behind the design of this type of headless guitar and I really don't care what shape it has, I put functionality, comfort and efficiency above design and aesthetics any day, so after watching some reviews about travel guitars (yes because electric doesn't need large body) found about these Steinbergers made by Gibson and already have one coming for X-mas to replace my kid's first Strat Squire guitar ;) thanks for everything.

Best performance of the Omni Bass on KZbin Chance! How does it compare soundwise to the full scale CR4M? Does the full scale have a more full bodied sound or is it the same? I see you have one in the back ground.
@chancewilderonody10 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! That’s an incredible compliment. Actually you’ll be surprised to find out that the OmniBass has a heavier low end “fatness” than the full size. It surprised me and then Ned explained it to me that it’s actually because of the shorter scale. The string has less tension and has a wider vibration. This is really felt in pizzicato. Arco play, it’s can be pretty close once you adjust the bow pressure for the lower tension, but the full size has finer articulation.

@wilderonody Thanks Chance. We had contact on Insta as well (Next Level Slap Bass). Good to hear that the Omni has more low end! For now I have bought an Ibanez UB804. I really like it but I maybe want to 'upgrade' to a Omni CR4M in the future because of the magnetic pickups. Really love the 34" scale for electric upright. It's a nice contrast to my full scale acoustic upright. And it makes four finger technique more easy and less shifting. Great playing and thanks for your help!

he didnt talk about "why carbon and not wood" "or this is my english traductor who is not ok?
@handle433Ай бұрын
Carbon was used because wood shrinks and moves with temperature, humidity and age. These were designed to mitigate all of those problems!

Ned's bass design was genius in terms of carbon composition. I had the L2 bass then got the XL2. The fact the it's design is impervious to atmospheric keeps its sustain and ease of staying in tune is revolutionary. I remember a Steinberger ad where he straddles the bass between 2 chairs wide enough then stands on the bass.
@Maximus091768 Жыл бұрын
Which bass did you like and or think was better
@geoffm3031 Жыл бұрын
@@Maximus091768 It's been a couple of decades between owning the L2 vs my current XL2 but what I can remember is the L2 had a warmer tone probably from the pickups. Both feel the same in terms of playability.
@Maximus091768 Жыл бұрын
@@geoffm3031 so, after all this time, the sustain is still there. It’s like 40 years!
@geoffm3031 Жыл бұрын
@@Maximus091768 Teds proprietary composite material makes it that way. Even quality made basses made of wood is subjected to some sort of temperature expansion inversion. Basically stretching the strings out of tune. That's never an issue with a composite Steinberger.
@Maximus091768 Жыл бұрын
Funny, my L2 is having a hard time staying in tune. New strings and all.
