What do you recommend for very delicate lace pieces?

Weird. But thank you. By the time i was old enough to be aware of Gunne Sax, it was the late 1980s. By then, Gunne Sax were all the rage for prom dresses in L.A. and were totally too expensive. By then, girls like me cried real tears bc we couldn't afford Gunne Sax for prom. And yet these dresses, that you showcase, are not at all what I remember! I think this video shows dresses before - well before! - the time I was in high school. We never saw dresses like these! Btw, these are beautiful dresses!

I am so glad Gunne Sax dresses are still being enjoyed by young women around the world. I am 63 years old. When I was a teenager in the 70s, I had several of those dresses. My favorite was natural-colored cotton with beautiful blue velvet and lots of lace. The sleeves had a zipper from wrist to elbow, and there was a lace up front on the bodice. The beautiful epitome of boho 70s. <3

i recently bought an edwardian gown and this is needed. she’s a bit dusty, has a bunch of little holes on the skirt and the lace is just a goner, wish me luck 😭

That was one of my favorite outlets in San Francisco… I took my daughters there to get their prom dresses and than go down stair to where their material, laces accessories were at and bought from there to especially the laces…

This just popped up in my feed - I had to watch when I saw “Gunne Sax.” I almost forgot about them! I’m 56 and I think we all had at least one Gunne Sax dress for Homecoming or Prom. How funny they’re appealing to young girls now😊

I have a Gunne Sax Dress. I probably got it in 1980. I wore it for High school graduation and when I got married in 1983. It has been stored all this years and is in perfect condition. I hope my Granddaughter will wear it one day.

I'm way late for the party! I have a Gunne Sax dress that I wore to my HS Prom, 1978. I'm getting ready to list it on Ebay & I can't find one exactly like it. Knowing what to list it isn't easy to do. I also have a long, calico print skirt that I wore in 1977. Both are size 9, although the label is missing from the skirt. Hard to believe I was once that size! lol I enjoyed your video SO very much! Hope you are well & still enjoying vintage treasures.

OMG I loved Gunne Sax. I remember going to an outlet in San Francisco. Never was able to fit one of their dresses though. They were all so beautiful. Didn't they also used to do prom dresses, at least that is my recollection. Your video popped up in my feed. Great memories.

Vinegar!! Diluting vinegar with cold water then spot treating with it or putting the garment in cold water with the vinegar gets the stains out!!

@HelloVintage

All of these are actual 1920s dresses so they aren't costumes. The ones with the giant slits were probably worn with a slip and the ones that are short on me are probably because I'm 5'9" plus heels. So even though the styling is more modern these are authentic 1920s dresses :)

Thanks so much for this. I previously cleaned some quilt tops from the 60s using Restoration, and it was great. My next challenge is a wedding dress from 1949, but I think my skills will need to develop more before I tackle that. I'm so appreciative that you brought up the thing about metal fastenings. I totally would have forgotten that I ought to remove those.
