man i own a 2016 nissan 370z and im currently trying to memorize downshift rev matching/downshifting in general without lurching the car forwards. i wanna know how many times that happened to you and was your car totally fine after that.
@jakethedog0014 күн бұрын
i literally tries doing this today, but when i did it the car would lurch forward or might have been engine braking idk. i have the right adea of downshifting rev matching but when it comes to letting up the clutch idk how long i should hold it for

Lo explicas muy bien y cambiss muy bien de marcha, empiezas a acelerar justo en el punto de friccion y lo mantienes ahí el pedal un segundo para evitar la sacudida. Saludos desde España.

Super sexy driving stick in traffic!! Love the footwork! Would like to see some super fast shifting and your recommendations in how to quick shift from a stop.

It’d be awesome if you could film a tutorial vid with an additional camera showing your hand on the clutch. It’s super helpful to see your feet as you’re teaching but for me I’d really like to see how to actually shift the stick. I know the stick shift in each car can be slightly different but still.

Do you have to rev match when downshifting? I usually just release the clutch slower and hold it at the bite point briefly to get the revs to rise to where they need to be for the lower gear and release the clutch afterwards. I’ve tried rev matching and it just doesn’t feel right to do for me since I’m not very good at it. The slower clutch release method is much easier for me to do and I feel more comfortable driving that way but many people say that downshifting like this is going to burn out the clutch and I’m not sure if that is entirely true. I get that it would cause a bit more wear compared to rev matching but I doubt it would significantly reduce clutch lifespan by doing the slower clutch release method.

No, you definitely don’t have to do it. What you’re doing is fine also. It’s preference.

You are increasing clutch wear. You should Rev-match.

Great demonstration and technique. I always ease off the clutch, like you, as I give it gas and hold it for a fraction of a second when I'm at the bite point before completely lifting my foot off. If I pull my foot off the clutch too quickly the car always jerks a bit which passengers don't appreciate and makes me feel like a noob. 😆
