I've never seen stabbing in Buhurt. Is that against the rules?
@jamesbaggett722311 ай бұрын
Pretty sure considering the sword tips are usually rounded off and the blades are blunt

Rules are too strict. Maces capping at 1kg weight is utter bullshit! Also, the requirements for armour are a bit too high, it's literally more than actual medieval armour. Barring thrusts is also stupid, considering you don't allow pointy bits, and you're all super heavy armoured. And finally......I can't use my KENABO, and that's a goddamn shame!

But anyways I'm looking for counsel members I plan on starting my own competition my own league the armor style won't be as strict just as long as it doesn't inflect with safety. I want people to show their personalities in their armor instead of being restricted to such style restrictions. Example Iconic 1992 Gary Oldman's dracula devil armor but would be able to have horns like that do to safety cause it can get grabbed and twisted etc.
@6Vlad6Tepes62 жыл бұрын
Well actually you can't really speak for those that were over 100 years ago you don't know if someone actually jousted without armor do to a circumstance. The only way we know is from scripture and tapestry etc which even then may not be 100 percent truth.

Just watched some insecure nerd try to explain he isn't role playing when he dresses up as a night to role play knights for 30 minutes lmfao I can hear it now "I would have joined the military" anyway its a great sport reach out to your local team and check it out. It's literally just that though. We suit up in historic armor and fight, no one cares about your name or if your into history or not. It helps if you are to learn the best ways to down somebody with your gear and taking other martial arts help. This video is dumb

I'm kinda a year late, but I needed to ask this question. Would someone wielding a mace be allowed to choke up on the handle next to the head and punch at an enemy? I wasn't sure if that was allowed or not

i would love to play this sport since i love medieval weapons/armor but i don’t think i’m old enough lol

Are there clear rules about the types of histrorical armor you allowed to wear? Like if I'm one though motherf*cker that can handel getting beaten to sh*t and I would like to come in with jack chains with extra elbow protectors over them on a gambeson instead of fully plate arms would light armor like that be okey to wear? I really would like some clearty on that type of stuff you know.

Very informative, this is helping a ton. Lol reenactors are not actors though, nor performing a scripted performance. You're thinking of those guys at Medieval Times and Renaissance Faires! not sure what to call them...probably just "actors"

Buhurt sounds a little like butthurt. That's some problematic branding. Like calling your restaurant Crappito's or Phuk Yu.

Try being a member of the "Society for Creative Anachronism", sounds a lot like anarchism; we were participating in a parade and the news announcers mentioned that they almost weren't going to mention or show our float on camera because they thought we were promoting anarchy. 😂

While there is a lot of conflicts and arguement between the HEMA and Buhurt communities, at least we can unite in our hatred towards Larp trying to join the conversation.

This is just sad...grown men with anger issues and low self esteem. My bet is self promotion and over compensation centers around their lives.

@LordOwenLongstrider Жыл бұрын
I don't so buhurt, I do SCA Chivalric combat, armored combat but using unpadded rattan weapons instead of metal, and not quite as strict armor standards, but after over 20 years I have never once felt the need to prove my self-esteem, my masculinity, to bash someone over the head with a big sword to release my anger (I leave that for my training pell, and in the SCA you get kicked off the field if you can't control your anger), nor over-compensate for anything I lack, I simply do it for the love of engaging in medieval combat, the thrill of putting on a suit of armor, to feel the weight of it and the weight of my weapon, to look like all my favorite characters like Aragorn, Geralt, and Lancelot, to study the art of combat, and to fight against another fighter to test my skills, as well as join an army of warriors in battle against another army, as my ancestors did. I guess that is something you just can't understand unless you do it yourself. 🤷♂

Chris Torak was really great on Saturday. I don't think anyone on our team except maybe Big Brad was able to take him down in a straight-up grapple; I sure didn't want to mix it up with him here! He also stayed in right to the end along with his teammate Josh; congrats to them and to all the Pine Barons! You guys just keep getting better.

@KnightLife_LIVE3 жыл бұрын
The closest "hammer like" object you could use in a melee would be a mace. There are specific weight and shape requirements, so if you're interested in buying one for sport use, check with your local team captain just to confirm everything's kosher before you're out $200 and you only have a cool piece to hang on the wall, lol.
