It was good to see that this video described her trial as a political maneuver by the English, but there were some misleading issues: she herself denied calling herself a commander since there was always a nobleman in direct command; and her conviction was overturned on 7 July 1456 (not 1920) after the English had been expelled from Rouen, which allowed the Chief Inquisitor (Jehan Brehal) to investigate English manipulation of the trial. Her official canonization occurred in 1920, but she had been cleared of the charges far earlier and was treated as a de-facto saint from that point onward: e.g. in the 16th century the French Catholic League used her image on their banners.

If they ran out of ammo, their guns malfunctioned or didn't have time to reload, they could have always switched to weapons such as swords and polearms. Those are more useful in close combat. Obsidian blades could also shatter if they impacted steel breastplates.

Melqart is pronounced like Melkart not Melquart. Your thumbnail look like Mycenaeans or Minoans and they didn't paint women tanned by white, the men were painted brown, suntanned. The Phoenicians called themselves Canaanites. They sailed to West Africa to trade their goods for gold, but not all the way to the Cape of Good Hope. They were actually quite frightened of the animals of that part of Africa especially an animal that is described like a Gorilla. Phoenician was a Semitic language almost identical with ancient Hebrew. Originally the Israelites weren't monotheistic but had a pantheon of Gods, they just decided to ditch all those Gods like Ba'al, El, and Ashtorah for Yahweh, a God without an image. They knew how to pronounce it but it became taboo to say the name. Adonai is a euphemism. The biblical stuff I already know about, it is not my interest and I don't take it seriously more myths and stories.

To me. It's basically the quote like, "There is good, and there is evil. And evil must be punished". That sounds like using grey morality here. I am glad I'm not morally grey. I am neutral nice on the morality spectrum. I rather prefer basic and heroic characters in fiction over morally grey ones. That have been a lot people with grey morality in the real world.

In these troubling times, we need more people with the eloquence of Adlai Ewing Stevenson. He may have lost two presidential elections to Dwight Eisenhower, but he was a superb statesman. He knew how to use witty eloquence to disembowel an opponent. We need more people who speak with clarity instead of worn out and lofty platitudes.

Hi, Professor. I liked your lectures before that's the only reason I watched that one. You totally misunderstood Putin's reasons for grabbing Ukrainian lands. This is nothing to with NATO and American presidents you mentioned. He's like a hacker when asked why did he hacked someone's bank account, he said: cause I could, also someone's money won't hurt.

The problem is that the eastern part of Ukraine has a lot of either pro-Russian or ethnic Russians in that area that align more with Russia and its culture. I think that was not an issue when the Ukrainian government was more pro-Russian. But after it became more pro-Western under Zylenskyy, that is when all the issues started between Russia and Ukraine. Russia and Putin want a more pro-Russian Ukrainian state, but I do not think things will go back to that. Even if Ukraine were to retake that part of Ukraine. What will happen with the ethnic or pro-Russians in eastern Ukraine? Will it be like East Prussia after World War II when the Germans were forced to give it up to the Soviets and now Poland today, or ethnic cleansing like in Yugoslavia. I think that is a major issue with this war and why it is ongoing. The Russians want to hold on to what they think is a historical region or their sphere of influence that dates back to the time of the Russian Empire. This is just from the Russian perspective. The West sees Russia as the aggressor in possibly trying to consolidate all of Ukraine which could give them a geopolitical advantage in Eastern Europe. Some see Putin as trying to resurrect the old Soviet Union. But I still do not think that the West can win this war without direct intervention. Europe and America does not have the stomach to fight a long protracted war similar to World War II.

Interestingly, Columbus took a Hebrew interpreter with him to the "New World". Odd that he would know a Hebrew interpreter would be useful in the "New World". The channel "Kurimeo Ahau" goes into great detail regarding this.
@professorsimonshc
@professorsimonshc 6 ай бұрын
There are theories that Columbus was related to Jews or Jewish ancestry since the name Colon has been a previous surname used by various Jewish families such as in Italy. Also, the main financier of his voyage, Luis de Santángel, under Queen Isabella was a converso (Jewish convert to Catholicism). Some say the voyages of Columbus also took place to find alternative places for Jews to migrate to since the Spanish Inquisition was ongoing at the time. Many Jews would end up migrating to other countries such as the Ottoman Empire, but some left for the New World such as in Latin America and later North America.

@DC-cg2jp Also, from this other comment about the rabbis - the rise of rabbis did not really happen until after the Temple Period ended when the Romans sacked Jerusalem in the year 70. This was because early Judaism was centered around the Temple and priests. My main area of historical studies is with Flavius Josephus, who writes a great deal about this period. In fact, the Rabbinic schools that followed in Jerusalem and Babylon did not take off until after that period which helped to continue the Jewish religion. It is of course led to the development of the Talmud which was written down following this period with Jerusalem and Babylonian Talmuds. You should read historical works more.

It is likely the Canaanites were from the Americas. Ancient, very ancient, artifacts found in South America show Phoenician writing.
@professorsimonshc
@professorsimonshc 6 ай бұрын
A theory does exist that the Phoenicians discovered America, or at least sailed close to where the Sargasso Sea which would be east of North America or the Bahamas (which the latter is more of a possibility). Christopher Columbus sailed through that seem region in 1492 when he discovered part of the New World on his first voyage. Apparently, this theory of the Phoenicians discovering America developed from a stone inscription supposedly found in Brazil in the 19th Century, but some think it is a fake or forgery and not a genuine artifact. Most scholars today dismiss the Phoenicians to America theory, but "Phoenician origin theories" seem to be a popular historical subject today or in plenty of KZbin videos out there. Really, the Native Americans discovered America first! Thanks for the comment!
