I honestly spent months trying to get past the tunnels. And finally did it. Only to have it say “well done, try again.” Memories.

Was an awesome game

Happy memories, can't believe its only 3 minutes to do that run. I must have spent hours trying to through the yellow bit. I love that metallic tink-tink-tink noise which says you've been given an extra life in quite a few acornsoft games.

The BBC micro is a lovely computer but how do you find out the start end and exec values of a program?????????

I once completed a loop of this on BBC, just once. That last level is a killer

I've not played Plan B much but had Plan B 2 on my electron back in the 80's. I completed it it on BeebEm a while back and uploaded a video too.

Excellent.I completed this once as a kid, but it took a lot of practice..!

One of the best 8-bit conversions of Scramble there is! Looks great. Must have a play of this..

This is absolutely awful compared to the Trickysoft version.
@TheRetroShed3 жыл бұрын
@@VengerVideoGamer agreed! That does look pretty impressive. Pity that version wasn’t around when we were kids. :)
@VengerVideoGamer3 жыл бұрын
@@TheRetroShed yeah, there are still some great games coming out for the old 8 bit computers. I just had a couple of goes on Rocket Raid and couldn't believe the key combinations used. Whoever thought that A and Z for up and down, and Shift and Space for forwards and backwards was a good idea was either on drugs at the time or is an octopus!
@TheRetroShed3 жыл бұрын
@@VengerVideoGamer you’re not wrong. If you’re lucky enough to own a Spectrum Next you can play an arcade perfect version of Scramble on it (and some other classics!)

@@TheRetroShed I had an Electron back in the day and play on emulators these days. I usually stick to BBC Micro games as the Stardot Forums hold high score competitions.

Yellow section... aarrrggghhhh! I played this to death as a kid but never got past the first few seconds of the yellow level. I take my hat off to you for completing it!

How did the BBC Micro get away with having so many games that were blatant knock-offs?

Excluding MAME, it's the best version of Scramble.

@matrixdumpster I did it i just had a go!! Thankyou for that, i was laughing like a school child...again. I Got half way through the green things about five times... and i think i'll have another go soon. Haha great!

@Baldershoot It's Easy to emulate. Google 'BeebEm' to get the program, and then google 'stairway to hell' (yes, seriously) to get the game "image". Piece of cake once you're used to it. Enjoy!
@Baldershoot14 жыл бұрын
Wow... i used to play this at school. We used to play with a pilot and a weapons system operator. We had a leader board for who got the furthest and in the end my WsOp and i got through 4 times in a row. It got a bit academic after that. I'd love to have a go for old times sakes but i have no idea how to make an emulator work.
@matrixdumpster14 жыл бұрын
@Flossferry Yes they were! And limited to about 8 colours (if you don't count dithering!!)

@briondecker Emulator would be the way to go then! Just a pity they can't emulate the feel (and clacky buttons) of the original!

@JayArgonaut You're not wrong! Elite was written for the Beeb originally, and Exile was one of the greatest achievements in the history of programming (although I found it confusing because it was so vast!). Way before its time.
@JayArgonaut14 жыл бұрын
Excellent gaming skills and what a superb version of Scramble that was! Those programmers really made the hardware shine. The Beeb was criminally underrated as a games machine, which is ironic because it was home to a lot of classics.

It's not much of a game if you can complete the thing in about two and a half minutes!!. In contrast to say Citadel which takes about 45 minutes
@kershawmusic86036 жыл бұрын
That escalated quickly! :)

I'd like to see you complete Citadel in 45 minutes. It usually takes more like an hour and a half. I've completed it more times than I care to remember.
