I work at a college and have been in higher education (with a focus on admissions and retention) for over a decade, and can tell you that colleges are DESPERATE for students to enroll in an era where Gen Z is shunning college more than generations before. Colleges will continue to admit students of color and really, all students (even bending some of their own admissions requirements), just to stay afloat. To those of you who were yearning for an outcome where somehow some people would be excluded from accessing higher education: sorry (not sorry), this ending DEI thing won’t take us back to the 1950s. 😂
