Roger has now undertaken further research into the Thomas and Evans bottle ....... 'William Thomas and William Evans founded a business selling groceries, general provisions and mineral water in Porth, South Wales in about 1890. One of their most well-known products was the Corona brand soft drink popular from the early 20th century. The original name of the company was Welsh Hills Mineral Waters. The Corona brand was created in 1920 as the business expanded. The roots of the company were in the 19th century Temperance Movement where an alternative to alcohol was sought in order to control drunkenness in miners during the Rhondda Coal Rush. The business was acquired by The Beecham Group in 1958. Thomas Beecham (1820-1907) was a chemist and the Grandfather of Sir Thomas Beecham the conductor (1879-1961). They exist today as the world's sixth largest pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline.'

Looking for something a bit unusual? We've got a few pieces of 500 year old oak for sale. They would make unique shelves, picture frames or outdoor sculptures. Email [email protected] if you would like to purchase a piece of veteran oak, each characterful item has a fascinating story to tell of bygone axe work, sweat and skilled carpentry.

Over one year later and we are delighted with the way this mammoth masonry stove performs. It really is like a giant hot water bottle that stays warm from a single firing per day! This stove is called Hestia. Thank-you to everyone involved with constructing and sponsoring her.

Could you explain the earth rendering?
@orchardbarntraditionalbuilding4 жыл бұрын
Hi Carina, earth render is a plaster that we make from clay and sand. We've replicated what our ancestors made and applied to this cob wall. The render protects the cob wall from rain, wind and insect damage.
