I sdtill remember this - true artistry...but then when you hear the studio version...it is unfortunately a lssson in how to destroy a song in production. It failed to capture this magic.

2024 and I still say Angie got jipped ! I never watched Ameudol after this year because I realized it was rigged. Angie had her own mind , her own music ,and they didn't think she could be molded into their idea of a pop star singing music handed to her. Im other words , they didn't think they could own her.

The later released doesn’t do justice to this arrangement. The back up instrumentals on her performance here or on point. The recorded version loses some of the grandeur and power of the crescendo in this song. It still gives me chills when I listen to this version. I remember seeing the original broadcast of this and showing people the recording because it was so remarkable. I’ve always hoped she released a song with a different arrangement because like they said it is the top 40 song. Imagine if Mariah recorded it.

That’s a spot on assessment. I’ve often thought it needs to be recorded again with an arrangement that crescendos like the one in this clip. The lyrics are terrific, but they’re made even more meaningful by the gradual strength of the arrangement.
