Sorry . i got stuck on deforming the middle edge at 3 minute mark . Tried but it just wont work it gives me a error related to the selected object not being a polygon . How do u do this? Anyway i can fix it?
@kristine3D2 ай бұрын
Hi! Try restarting Maya first. Also Are you modeling with polys or nurb surfaces? Hopefully polygons, now select the verts that you need in your blade first then activate a lattice deformer. A rectangular shape should appear, right mouse button click and select the verts in your deformer and you should be able to adjust it. Let me know how this goes.

I have 2023 maya and used the multicut tool to lay in edge loops. How ever it's only just dropping one. Each time I go to outer edge line, press control there isn't a new edge loop that shows up.
@kristine3D2 ай бұрын
hi ! let's try to solve this. There are few other options you can use to add multiple tools. Try the "Insert Edge Loop Tool" here is the documentation from Autodesk. Let me know if this helps. help.autodesk.com/view/MAYAUL/2025/ENU/?guid=GUID-226AECD6-F2C0-48D7-BE16-39E52EE7F075

Hello, I am trying to do the extrude to add the detail you added on the hilt. What did you do to merge the vertex to smooth the mesh? Combining the vertex doesnt seem to be working, they don't move when I do edit mesh -> merge. It also wont let me select vertex individually because theyre duplicated. How can i fix it?

For going to be subdivided-smooth was it necessary for the polygons to be all quads?
@kristine3D10 ай бұрын
good question, this really depends on where your models are being used in, for film assets that are mid-hero resolution yes 100% - everything else? no (like games)

Nice one👌 got a doubt though While subd modeling did you add just supporting edge loops or did you crease some areas as well, i felt like you did at some places so want to know if it was just supporting edges or not. Also would you make a tutorial(speedrun or normal) on modeling a sword with a fuller that goes outwards instead of inwards or a gaming chair with multiple cushions on the botton seat next or in the future maybe😄😄?
@kristine3D11 ай бұрын
No creasing was done during this demonstration. I added screengrabs to compare the topology between poly and subd so everyones able to have a closer look, check at 07:50 I’ll add your request to my future model demo list ッ
