How things have changed... In Canada.. Alberta lots of new land clearing for farmland every year opening up in the north of the Province... Use a larger like D8R and a V cutter on the ground frost.. Winter December through into April with a sharp cutting edge for years and works great even in logged out areas where stumps exist. Shears trees/stumps off near the ground... Then.... Now newer styled pilers rip out many of the remaining stumps left by the cutter and tree roots especially if done twice and little dirt in brush piles but cost like $50,000 to $60,000 to build and 20 to 28 foot wide! Makes brushing larger treed area's or logged out which most likely the case... Company in Red Deer Alberta and others make a very large breaking Disc that smack the remaining stump material and roots bust up... Makes what you got and the way it's done 20 times faster.

Aint nobody just farming that land without running a picker machine through it first to get all those root & stick pieces out of it unless they want to destroy their seed drill.

A while back I was driving Case 850 with tree pusher & I was tasked knocking over trees that had been ringbarked in the depression & I learnt by hard experience that cab & over the bonnet exhaust filters needed to be covered even on the sides. Because when you hit dead tree or even just rock it there will be branches that fall.

Dangerous work, stored energy in a bent branch that breaks is very deadly.

Thanks for the great land clearing info. What model Rome are you using? We have 18 acre field in typical Illinois clay loam soils that has had 1-3 saplings growing. We brush hogged it and ran a dozer over it to level the ground but need to know the right size Rome that will for sure slice dice the roots in the dirt.

Finally someone who gets it! I argue all the time to guys who mulch and claim they “clear” land for farms. If the stump or root is left it will regrow. I’ve cleared a little over 2000 acres of my own land to know what’s needed. I’ve done it all…nothing beats a dozer with a rake and disc harrow.

That up and forward plants your tracks and makes that dozer pry it up out the ground. I've always said watching ppl hit trees w a dozer w they blade all way up don't got no idea about or no business on a dozer in the woods. You leave atleast bout a third up that way it won't jus hit the tree and spin

One them damn bearings weighs 90 lbs. Fellow I used to work for had one he bought, a newer one bought in 2015 new Rome w the 36 inch disk like yours. This one I think is 20 foot wide. It was wider than our 360 horse Deere w spaced out duals that wrapped round 4 36inch rows us about another tire width that's bout 6 rows wide. Bout 18 20 foot. That was somethin to watch, it handles all your roots smaller stumps trees and mulches them up
@chadsmith9401
@chadsmith9401 Жыл бұрын
The Rome folks told us not to grease them like your normal harrow w jus 2 or 3 pumps a year, these ones was pose to be greased everyday and I'm guessing they right cause we did have that one go out but only had to grease the back ones the fronts were oil bath in 90 wt. Ain't never seen nothin stout as them bearings and axles
