I feel this in my soul 😂 I went yesterday got there 5 minutes early (confession is usually an hour and 15 minutes before Saturday vigil Mass) and still didn’t get in till 10 minutes before Mass. But I guess thats what happens when a family brings all of their kids to the weekly confession. Dont get me wrong im glad they were there but dang man that wait was crazy! 😂

Fr Des was Chaplain when I went to St Andrew’s College, Bearsden in 1981. Think he left in 1983 just after my Father suddenly passed. Des came and concelebrated my Dad’s Funeral Mass which was lovely. After that, I was really struggling to get back to my studies and was missing a few days here and there - in fact, from memory, it was a few weeks here and there! So, Fr Des phone and suggested we should have a catch up. He’d seen that I had been signed into all my lectures but had missed me - I know who signed me in! Des suggested we meet at The Danish Food Centre in the City and have a wee bite to eat! I had never been there because I always thought it was way too expensive but Des paid and said he’d charge it to Archbishop Winning’s account! I couldn’t believe it but he brought me back from a challenging time following my Father’s bereavement. What a man - so sad to hear and read of his passing but I am sure, if I ever can be, that he will rest with the Lord forever. Such a wonderful priest and fantastic human being. Thanks, Fr Des.
