This car sounds mean

That moment where the Charger hits the parked car has some, as you pointed out, movie magic at play, but it's actually a different revealing mistake than we used to get with older prints of the film: The Charger now appears to briefly vanish into thin air at the moment of impact, the result of a digital alteration made twenty-odd years ago. In the original version, you see the Charger actually hit the camera at the parked car, causing a noticeable effect to the image at the moment of impact. Rather than leave that mistake in, and instead of cutting a few frames earlier, they opted to remove the impact but keep the shot the same length...so now the car just vanishes from the frame at the end of the shot. Weirdness.

I think the sound has been ripped from the car chase scene in Bullit.
