317th Combat Engineer Vet here, been to Wildflecken enough times. It woulda been nice to hear a story about how much the people of Wildflecken helped those unfortunate country-less Poles, very unfortunate to not hear that! We all know Germans plan was to take out all the Poles after they ran out their first prey! 6million Poles murdered, 3million of whom were Roman Catholic!

I trained in Wildflecken in the 1970s when my U.S. Army Scout Platoon went there as part of Project Partnership to train with the German Army Pioneer Platoon. We always looked forward to going there as it was such a beautiful area. Training with the German Army was also a highlight of our years and periodically they would come to Erlangen where I was stationed to train on our equipment. I remember the first trip to Wildflecken we were all staying in big military tents and the language barrier was at first a problem. Then the NCO's went to the local brewery and brought back several cases of beer and in a very short time it was like we had known each other all our lives. Nothing but good memories of the place and the people I met there!

Stationed w/ a Hawk unit from 84-87. For some reason I didn't appreciate what a special place it was until years later. At the time, I never I thought I would ever miss those days, but I do.

My Dad was stationed there 1957-1959. Went to school on the base 2-4th grades. Us army kids played in the woods all the time. Even had a little league team Wildflecken Wildcats. Played teams from other bases. There would be 200 plus GI’s screaming at us Great memories as a kid. Remember when Elvis came there for maneuvers.

I appreciate this video very much. I was stationed in Bad Kissingen with HQ Trp of the 2/14th A.C. We trained yearly at Wildflicken and often we drove there in order to get fuel and ammunition. I would not trade my 2 years 7 months and 11 days lived in Germany for any thing. Thanks for this great well done Video!!!

I was stationed in Germany for 6 years in the 1970's and served in Armor and Cavalry units. I to have nothing but great memories of my time in Germany and the times my Scout Platoon went to Wildflecken to train with the German Army. If only I could go back in time.

I was briefly stationed there from 8/79 to 11/80 in 1/68 Armor. I loved it. Beautiful scenic mountains and colorful in the fall. I'd like to know if the present day German Bundeswehr allows former veteran's to visit.

I was not stationed here, but I appreciated this video very much anyway. Very nicely done, and what an apparently lovely community. It could have fought the presence of outsiders, but instead it appears to have embraced it, and I think everyone is better off in the end having had that happen. I miss Germany SO much! Thank you so very much for this. :)
