i worked for fedex twice. I was a package handler and loaded trucks all day. First of all they dont let you listen to music or bring your phone in. Its a labor intensive job and not having music is boring AF. The managers also push you to be faster and come around and push the packages down your truck. I once yelled at one cuz i had packages organized so i can fit them the way i wanted and they all got thrown everywhere when the manager pushed the packages down. I also could get hurt as sometimes i would get my finger squished. Also they pay was 17 per hour and they promised us 30-40 hours a week. When i started i would work for 4 hours and they will cut the day short and send you home. there was two days where i only worked 2 hours and got sent home. The manager would be surprised that i stayed longer because most people leave with in a week

I’ve been delivering for Amazon for a year in Florida. Agree with everything you say. I enjoy it though. Especially the hours and creating my own 40 hour schedule.

They cut hours to make a 2nd shift this time of year and tell you to come in on your off days to make up for your missed time.

I know the dsp you worked for. I’ve worked for them 3 years now. It was a quick downward spiral. Costing him money. He gets anywhere from 5 to 10 cents pre package delivered.

The app seems to prefer you to deliver to the left. I doubt the DSP can do anything about the app because it's Amazon-made and the DSP is just a final-mile contractor.

My training provided me with 98% of what I needed to know to do my job efficiently. I can really only think of one thing it didn’t teach me, and that was how to deal with the GPS pin being wrong. Other than that, the jobs a breeze. Follow traffic laws, don’t dick around and you’ll be fine. Working 4 days a week, I really don’t care how long I work each day. Not everything makes sense as far as the order of deliveries, but I can change that. Usually just go with it though. I’ve only gotten one bad review from a customer, and I’m sure it’s my fault. I was supposed to deliver a package to the rear door and remembered after I started driving away, so I left it lol.

The real problem is DSP accept every shit from Amazon because they’re making a really really really good money and don’t care if driver must to die on the road to keep working for Amazon, and one day all driver goint to know DSP can pay $30 buck per hour without ANY PROBLEM and then Amazon is going to get robots 😂 and DSP is going to fuck up.

As a Rural-based FedEx Ground Swing, what matters most is getting past the first month. That's the major hurdle because you're still learning. Sure, Managers could suck on occasion, or things go wrong, but it's life. I'm not saying take it while you're down, but do what you can. If you need to roll a big package, roll it. If you come home tired, that just means you did a good job and you'll get stronger the next day and the next. I can often find myself working 12 Hours or more because my usual route is an hour commute to the first stop, but then it's stop-go. Some of my coworkers just have drives between stops and that's what takes them the longest. You'll get into a rhythm of your average route. You'll meet new people and some of our Customers actually give us gifts, drinks, food, so on. What matters alot out of it all, is what contractor you go for. (For Ground). Our Hub is in the largest city of my state (of course), but my Contractor is rural-focused. Because they knew that our routes would be long typically, and we'd go over the 8-hour mark, the 170/Daily (which is great for my area; really liveable) switches to OT/Hourly after that 8th hour of the day. My checks tend to come out 15-1600 Bi-Weekly, and joing FedEX (For me) was the best decision at my current moment because I'm paying off debts and such. FedEX isn't for everyone. Read the glassdoors, if you know people who know employees, ask them. Learn about it, see what contractor does the best from your Terminals. Hell, some of my coworkers are switching to a different contractor simply because of the pay since they have more kids than what my contractor can accomodate for pay wise. Research Research Research. Any sort of work like Delivery Drivers or Package Handling is going to be hard, that's the name of the game. Just know that eventually, if you came in weak (like I did, I could hardly handle 80lbs at the start), you'll end up being able to handle more and more later on. (I've finally been able to handle our Weight max of 150lbs). Just know your worth. Work hard. And come home tired knowing you did good. Did the best you could that day.

7:51 so true. I was driving a ford tranzit van that had a check engine, tire pressure sensor, and oil change service interval light on when working at fed ex ground. Told my contractor about it said it was completely normal. I lasted only 3 months. It really depends on your contractor, cause when i told people around the station whom i worked for they all gave me a pat on the back and said something along the lines of I'll be praying for you or good luck brotha you're gonna need it.😂😂😂

I’ve never worked for any type of delivery service company. That said, the one thing I’ve noticed about FedEx delivery drivers that seems to differ from their counterparts at UPS and Amazon is the speed and aggressiveness in which they drive. You can’t help but notice it. I’ve just always assumed it was because FedEx placed more pressure on their drivers than did their competitors.
