IMO it does more harm than good to remove videos that don’t perform at first. Some content might perform better over time once the algorithm starts to recognize the content you’re putting out.

I'm 25 & I've been doing photography as my Hobby/ Freelance... for almsot 10 yrs. I use Manual everytime, I do it all myself... I hate that photography now a-days is all Photoshop, Lightroom, or A.I... I kinda like the Old-school I guess. I take the time to learn my camera settings, I dont crop or put a filter on my photos... I enjoy the challenge of taking a photos with the Manual settings, seeing what settings work on ny own, and the originality of the photo.

I used to watch Jared A LOT when I first started out in photography. And a lot of other creators. My thing was, if I see how different people do it, I can mix it all up and create my own way. I used to love the interactions he had with his Grandma Lil, and I truly felt for him when she passed away. Something changed though. he became arrogant. And for the life of me, I can't understand why. He's a great photographer, there is no doubt there, but the arrogance that oozed out of him drove me away. Most episodes became a roast of whoever was his target that week, and how he could do things better. I started my own business, in photography about a year after watching my last episode, and found creators within my niche, and jesus, they all seem to be best buddies, the big names in the field, crediting each other, saying to each other things like "you could have one this and you would have got this result. - What do you think?" instead of just bashing into each other about their styles. It was a refreshing world, and it reminded me of when I picked up my first camera and went to photograph the northern lights in Scotland. People were willing to share experience and not be bitchy about it, they'd come down and see how your images were turning out. But Fro....? Man he made me sad. I can credit him for teaching me most of what I know about photography, and I am very grateful for that. I probably wouldn't have had it in me to believe in my own capabilities if I hadn't used what his videos taught, but I just think he lost his grounding.

I started an instagram about a year ago, I started posted photos either every day, every other day, or at least once a week. Within about 4 months, I jumped to 1,000 followers. After I reached, 1,000 I was offered a photography job which took up a lot of my free time in photography. I started to post once a month now. My followers has staid steady at 1,080 followers now for 6 months. They only promote your channel when you post every day, or every other day. Even if they are not my best photos, I get more followers from the 5th day of posting than I would ever get posting my best photo randomly in a month. Still cant seem to get over 1100 followers for some reason. I was going from 30-50 followers a post to maybe getting 5 for 1 really good post, only to lose 5 more before I post the next photo. Its weird for sure.

It works fine when going to the 3.5mm line-in on the side, but then I can't use the onboard mic for crowd sounds. Not sure what the issue is or how to fix it. I have an account with 1080 followers and the most liked post only had 100 likes and 10 comments. If I'm only getting 10% of my followers to interact with my posts, what is the point of followers anymore? If only 10% of my feed on Instagram are accounts I follow, then why do I even follow anymore? Instagram has gotten to a point where they think they know what you like better than you telling them what you like. Like going to a Mcdonalds and ordering a big mac and them telling you "I think you should have a quarter pounder today" and serve it to you. Only Instagram doesn't allow returns on your wasted time.

As someone else with 1.5k subs, I get a LOT more attention on my astronomy videos than my camera ones. I gotta assume it's because the learning curve is harder for amateur astronomy and the gear is nowhere as mature as on the photography side -- *but it's getting there quick* I also notice review videos about *buying new gear* do well and those where I teach something... do poorly. Go figure, people want to spend, but don't want to learn. Story of human nature =/ You're 100% right. I have a lot of fun making videos, but this won't ever become a business -- ship has sailed. There's guys with 50x my audience who can't make a living doing KZbin. WHY do people always want to 'be like someone else' instead of being themselves? If all we had on YT were PMK or MH or CN it would get boring REALLY QUICKLY! I watch the creators I do because they are unique in themselves, their content and presentation. YT is NOT a Hollyweird Studio Production platform it is YOU Tube. Meaning YOU and the content YOU create, not what someone else creates. A platform that allows ANYONE, EVERYONE to make content and upload it for others to see. While PMK is a good creator, he's a pitchman, a salesman. Early on he aligned himself with Casey Neistat to boost his own channel and "brand." If you didn't have a channel that was bigger and more popular than Pete, he would not talk to you, because he was all about promoting himself and his "brand." Don't be fooled. 99% of Pete's video production quality comes from Kirk. Peter may have the vision, but Kirk makes his vision look the way it does.

The irony of Jared Polin critizicing other photographers for "not being true photographers" when Fro doesn't have a photography business (and his LR presets blow btw), he's just a sponsorsman who earns money from making ads about new cameras. He doesn't care if the Sony A7IV uses the exact same motherboard and processors as the A1, making it a carbon copy as far as AF goes (120 calc/sec), he will say that the a6700/A7RV will autofocus better despite it has been proven they do not. and in fact are almost worse than a7iii when AI detection is off, since they do only 20 calcs/second, all in all because they're new cameras despite having vastly inferior electronic interface, lower dynamic range, worse buffer and worse high iso performance. Besides, his photo gallery is full of background blur spam with rule of thirds or over-curved blurry photos.

I think its dead. I went to school for photography. Worked for lifetouch (school portrait company). I've freelanced. Ive worked at an ad agency. I've done it all, and im only 28. I have some big problems with the industry. 1 people think because its easy today with technology, it doesn't have value in other word. "im not asking for prints i just want something i can post to social media. So i dont think you deserve to be paid for time and talent as much." 2 companies look at the gear you use and won't give you a job based on that. I've lost jobs cause i didn't look professional with the latest and greatest camera gear. Lifetouch made you have the newest camera and didn't help you get it. So basically, i couldn't keep up and quit. Now, the landscape is changing as well, thanks to Ai. Pros in Photoshop are no longer needed. I was replaced by the ad agency cause ai can do something in Photoshop that took me an hour. All is not lost, though. Photography has become my hobby now, and im happier now. Friend needs portraits of their kid for yearbook, sure. My friend needs a small ad done, ok. I do photography because i love it. Im not in it to make money. Am i sorry that i wasted my college education on it, kinda. But that's life. Things change.
