What I would have preferred about James Gunn is that he had everything handed to him on a silver platter. Everyone was familiar with the actors. Was a reboot necessary to fix everything from the Synderverse? Yes, he could have used Flashpoint to reboot the entire universe with the same actors, but he chose not to do so. I am very skeptical about Superman's direction under James Gunn, so we shall see what happens.

Snyderverse was rubbish, I mean he gave us BVS and JL, those where really bad movies, I love cavil and his Superman was amazing but his Clark Kent was bad and he never really capture the essence of Superman with the dark and gritty take. Casting wise yes Affleck, Gal Gadot and Jason M were all great but can we stop making Snyderverse as this amazing thing. He made me dislike DC and Gunn wont be any better anyways, time will tell.

The answer to both of those questions is "no." So why do people think a possible failure of Gunn's efforts will get Snyder back in thr saddle?

Too bad they pushed Henry into Marvel and they at least treat him well. WB wasted such talent and potential by rushing everything. The DCU was already years behind Marvel. To Marvels credit, they built up most members of the Avengers for years with multiple solo hero movies before becoming a team. DCU didn't. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Cyborg, and the Martian Manhunter need each a few solo hero movies to build out their characters, enemies, and worlds. Make them solid movies first. Have a big bad brewing in the background of these universes that is revealed in a Justice League movie. DC has always failed at conveying its scale. You have city level, world level, and universe level of scale when it comes to villians and heroes. Example. in Marvel Thanos is made to look like an absolute threat to all life. For fans of DC, we have Darkseid that could easily manhandle Thanos without trying, yet the depiction of Darkseid was not conveying his level of power and why these heroes could not defeat him on their own.
