Thank u so much for this talk! I’m big fan of Oliver and hua’s writing. I grew up in San Jose. Started djing in 95 and still doing my thing today! The Filipino mobile scene really did pave the way for djs like me & I appreciate the culture being documented and embraced.

thanks much ate marissa! so sad to know what our ancestors have been through. let's see in my most unexpected presence at the UN would change those experiences at the past vis-a-vis with my experience in priestly ministry, most specifically on helping the poor workers at the present, would take effect. hope to see you one day at the field, UN NY and ILO. it is there that we could prove our blood, sweat and tears in helping those who were, and are on struggles - the oppressed workers. let us be an agents of hope ate.

Fascinating panel, unfortunate that the audio capture is so muted and also picked up a lot of background noise and crinkling Edit: Finally finished, again what a great panel!

The cool thing is this wasn’t only happening in the Bay Area. Growing up in Houston, we had a Filipino mobile Dj scene in the 80’s as well and having relatives in NY and Chicago, it was going on in those cities as well.

Dank. Cause hes only speaking on diversity cause he has too and block any real conversation about societal issues in east Asia and between them. They r making haystacks cause they know under the guise of diversity talk about individual issues and really they can stuff and sacrifice south Asians network or if there feeling sassy south east Asians. Like east Asians can only save east Asians. What r those climate migrations within east Asia n countries. Like how they see the ledger and how tech blurs environment and tech blurs with humans. And why do they happen. As Sam sanders on his podcast obsess better. Also dank. Go f yourself. Tm screen. Laughing all the way til my ass falls off. Have at it.

Even Chief Mark Peters, who was a lawyer and a historian, stated before he passed away that Chief Bottlewasher and Duane Perry has not came up with any proof they have Native Heritage. He gave them over 20 years to come up with proof and they never did. Mann and Perry want Chief Mark Peters of the Munsee tribe to help them sue the Oklahoma Lenape but Mark stated he would never sue the Oklahoma groups because they were his brothers and sisters, not Vincent Mann or Duane Perry. Mann is only chief of his own house which he is probably the main cook and bottlewasher! Chief Bottlewasher! Chief Mark Peters has KZbin history videos, they don’t include Mann or Perry!! CHECK YOUR FACTS!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡

This is great. I grew up watching my relatives have backyard and basement Dancehall parties in Jamaica Queens in the 70’s/80’s Hip Hop and B-Boy & House Music parties in the 80’s. Hearing the first narrator read his book brought back great memories for me. I’m 55 years old with 4 children and 8 grandchildren. Like dreaming to restore a classic hot rod I long to break out my turntables but my garage is currently a playroom for our grandchildren. I’m not Filipino but enjoy listening to Filipino DJ’s from the USA and Canada. Thanks again.

Thank you Tammy Kim for all your work. I 1st heard about you in the Noam Chomsky interview. I served 30 years in the Navy and I’m learning so much about our country and it’s missions. I thought I knew a lot but now I realize that I don’t know anything but a drop in the bucket. I’ve traveled the world but with the countless changes I have made in the Navy I never had enough time to learn about the countries that I was stationed at. So much to learn. Thank you for sharing this information, my learning continues.

It’s no accident that the first black president and vice president are biracial. White people are hyper aware of race and offer fluidity as seen in many Carribean and South American countries. Another great point highlighted by the panel is the commoditization of biracial identity. Every other commercial is a biracial person or mixed race couple.

This man wrote some great letters in the 1970s to the comic Shang-Chi Master of Kung Fu, as he mentions in the video. Well worth looking into if you can find the original issues or purchase the expensive omnibus editions. Wu at the time was very much interested in how Asians were represented in the comic and it's interesting to see him and the writers engage in that discussion as the comic is being printed. People really need to be talking to this man about the upcoming movie and Asian representation in general. I'd love to here more of what he has to say. I'm so pleased to see how a young man who wrote such intelligent letters to a comic went on to get a PhD, become such an active author and amass such a large collection of comics that NYU now has it as a special collection: apa.nyu.edu/william-f-wu-comic-book-collection/ Well done, Dr. Wu.
