I gave up, turned away from my heritage because I didn’t look indigenous. Sadly I know more about it than most people that look it. But I’ll never be truly welcome even if I did grow up singing the songs and dancing.

You are stronger than I am, that is why I am here.. How you can love mankind and not be a misanthrope takes strength especially when you see how mankind treats one another. I am a westerner and I take no comfort, no strength, no love from those around me. I surround myself in eastern culture. True love is rare to find, who cares how it is wrapped up. ❤

This is wrong teaching. If it goes against the word of God it is wrong. We can love others, but homosexuality is an abomination and goes against the word of God. Abortion is also wrong. I am Cherokee and I do not agree with this man’s teachings. I agree with the word of God.

@@shadowwolf9329 if you do your research and find your family on the Dawes or Ian miller rolls you could start from the ancestors on the rolls and cut half all the way to you because unless both are Cherokee it's reduced in half . Nowa days if your Cherokee by blood at all and can prove it your Cherokee we don't have a blood quantum so that's kinda out dated but the clan system is a big deal if you have one you have a place in the ceramonial grounds and can find more history through it everybody in one clan is biologically related so im in oklahoma but out east if they are from my clan we are related down the line we have seven clans , all cherokees can trace tjere family to these clans but if there is a dad in the line its lost

But I don't like to use that because only horses dogs and Indians have blood quantums that's kinda racist I go off of family ties , it's a two way street you have to accept the tribe and the tribe has to accept you if it don't your not Cherokee , oh and you generally have to be where cherokees are from . Everybody wants to be cherokee

Thank you for helping me to understand my grandfather, who was a Cherokee Medicine Man who accepted barter for healing but no cash. He was not a man of wealth, so your words helped me understand his ways at age 61. As an elder myself now, I sure miss him & those like him in my environment. GBU for your precious words. ~<3~ :)

My grandpa was both a Cherokee medicine man and also a university trained doctor. He was 100% dedicated to helping people. When I was 16, I was at his house when a crisis occurred: He discovered that a woman who had worked as his nurse \ receptionist had charged patients. He was devastated. He was very old then, but still working despite physical problems. I will never forget that day. He did not charge anybody, and his sisters and other relatives gave him food. His wife made money by leasing out rooms, which were above his office. They lived in a small apt. and never had much. When I stayed with them that summer, we never ate. That's a fact.

Sex is a ritual act of creation with the creator. To reject the creation is to reject the creator, literally to rebuke both creation and creator and creative force. I find his teaching on this to be shocking and a tacit acceptance of destruction.

Another words, you're going against this Elder's teachings so you can hang onto your homophobia. Making love isn't exclusively for creating a new life. It's about sharing love & pleasure with our chosen partner.

@oak My comment has nothing to do with gay people at all. I never even brought it up. What I said is that intentionally destroying life goes against the creative force, so they need to be more explicit on what they mean when they say when it has to be done" because people will justify anything anyway they can when they want to do something unjust. I'm not going against the elders teaching by telling you that abortion is killing another human being. That's facts, and it has nothing to do with being gay, so I'm not even sure why you brought that into it. Maybe you should look at that in yourself, since you are the one who seem Hung up on homophobia

Wado for the talk. I really needed this. I attended Holiday this year and felt so welcomed and at home that I didnt want to return "home". I set to work on finding out about my father's family. I researched and dug and found our story. We are an undocumented family (as far as Dawes Roll is concerned). I had kind of given up on connecting with my heritage after being told "No" a few times and being so far away from any Cherokee population centers. This has really lifted my spirits.
