My husband, in 2016 at age 74, was sent by his hematologist in Virginia to UNC and Dr Kastori for HHT. He was put on Avastin infusions. Prior to starting the infusions, he was having severe, debilitating, and life threatening nosebleeds (3 a day), and GI bleeds. Within six weeks, the nosebleeds stopped completely, as did the GI bleeding. He died in 2022 at age 81 of an unrelated illness. Avastin gave him his life back in his later years. Our daughter and grandson have been diagnosed with HHT also. Their future does not look so bleak now. Thank you for all your work.

the statement is made help is always available. NO no IT IS NOT!!! and even if you lived where you might know how to find help, how do you get the time and energy to just call and make an appointment to ask for help? i needed someone to care for my mother for a month. had to move her 3 times in 2 weeks and ended with her and i in hospital for 2 weeks. because they didn't trust my instructions learned by "trial and error" already, and tried to do it their own way. we were in much worse shape than when i started looking for help.

Diagnosed after two different brain injuries (one in 1991) with HHT in 2005. I live now through regular visits with Hematologists, allowing me to work in Southern California. I can't wait for a successful breakthrough in technology in the relief of this genetic illness.

Thank you Reid for advocating on behalf of yourself and others with hemophilia. This is a good video. While I do not have hemophilia, I can relate to the need to physically protect ourselves. I am a version of a Highly Sensitive Person or HSP, discovered by Elaine Aron and her husband Art. I am also a gifted adult and an empath. ------ Your difference is more favored than mine. Most people can understand why you must protect yourself. Most people don’t understand why I must. When protecting myself I have been called selfish, a narcissist and even a bully, when all I am doing is having to say “NO”, and sometimes more forcefully than I would like to do. I sometimes must firmly stand up for my genuine and natural needs others are oblivious to. If only people knew that my abilities to care deeply and help out are boundless, and they are not freely given out at the expense of my own well-being and sanity. It is cool to have healthy boundaries and to just say No. 👍🏼 While I won’t find myself bleeding to death, I must protect myself from many different toxic people, or as instances, people that have a mental illness, who are consistently highly anxious and paranoid. Or basically, are experiencing their unacknowledged biological death anxiety. This deep inner anxiety manifests into being competitive, harshly & falsely judge and punish, and or lack fair minded critical thinking and empathy, and or are adults who are immature and self absorbed, jealous, unloving, and manipulatively lying at the expense others and a relationship. Whew! That is a long list and vital for me to know about. Time to take some long deep breaths before going on. Their toxic energies they emanate from their bodies and minds, I am vulnerable to and am harmed by. Sometimes to the point of feeling like vomiting and fainting. I feel and absorb all energies or vibrations near and far. While you are more easily able to avoid bleeding to death, I am easily harmed by what is simply in the air. Your physical difference is favored over mine in an important way Reid. You will not be put down, rejected and be disinherited by ignorant family for needing to simply protect yourself from bleeding. Even after sharing factual information with family about what my abilities and limitations are, this info flew over their heads, then was dismissed and even scorned. This hidden and genuine need for self-protection from harm is a life-long struggle all highly sensitives, empaths and gifted people have. From my personal experiences, only those who have the similar abilities and limitations, and awareness I have about these characteristics can relate. This is same for those with hemophilia - can understand each other - yet I can have an idea of what you and others with hemophilia feel like and need. It helps to be self-educated, and to have a way to publicly and easily share & receive the information about hemophilia. Good going Reid! 👍🏼

Becausec hemophilia is very rare. They probably would take precautions if it were common. So it's important for people to give ample histories if they know there is any kind of bleeding issues in their family or past generations. Even if they're not sure and there is a possibility, they should mention it.

I have dealt with female bleeding issues often called Mennorhaigia-mettorphaigia a possible closely condition of hemophilia that effect my Monthly menstrual cycle. It might be a type or form of hemophilia of which effects the monthly menstrual cycle. It might be closely related to hemophilia or something like a cousin to the blood disease.
